You can easily find a much cheaper wine of the same quality

As someone who actually knows their wine, no you cannot. You can fine very acceptable cheaper wins, but if you want something as deep and complex as a Grange your going to have to buy Grand Cru Bordeaux or Burgundy which is going to run you basically the same price.

@@jorgejustin461 You can find more than a dozen of cheaper 1855 grand cru of the same quality. Actually only the first growth and chateau palmer are expensive than grange. All the 14 second growth are at least of the same quality. I know it because I have tried all 61 medoc grand cru chateaus.

@@luhaizhou I'm not sure that your applying currency exchange rates right. Grange bottles tend to go for just under 1000 AUD, which is ~700 USD. Grand Cru bottles can go for literally 4x as much or even more, or way way less. But those cheaper Grand Cru's tend to be from very poor producers well past their prime and should really be booted from the classification. Furthermore I am Australian and thus suffer at the whims of the Australian market. Imported French Wine is of a high quality is a rarity here, and generally commands a much higher premium than it does in Europe, if you can even find it. I've never even seen a bottle of any of the 1st rates Bordeaux's, and I've looked. Furthermore nearly all of them retail for about 900 SGD (Singapore dollars) minimum, SGD is basically the equivalent of the AUD. But if you do find a bottle it's probably going to be from a private collection and thus cost you more than it would retail. In other words they cost about the same, Grange is a little more expensive retail but doesn't command as much respect on secondary markets. And if you where talking about wine from the 1st rates that isn't their flagship, because I know they make other wines, Penfolds does that as well just as cheaply.

@@jorgejustin461 Sorry for you guys. But as a Chinese guy who has visited Adelaide penfolds vineyards and also tried all 61 grand cru classe of Medoc in the left bank of Bordeaux, it is really unrealistic for me to afford another bottle of grange. This is how the market works.
