The funniest part of them trying to redesign Eric/The Crow to be more “modern” is that Brandon Lee’s swag in the original has aged perfectly with 90s-early 2000s mallgoth fashion making a comeback. Meanwhile the design they gave Bill Skarsgaard’s version of Eric looks stuck in 2017. The old design would’ve honestly fit much better with modern times and would’ve looked much less dated IMO.

Man I really dont like shelly having a personal connection to the main villain or him having power. Part of what made what happened to them so terrifying was that the villains were normal people. They’re disgusting, vile people but they are still normal humans. The randomness of their car breaking down in the middle of nowhere is what makes it so effective and horrifying, because its much more relatable that way. I really hope one day theres a faithful adaptation of the crow, because the comic is fucking phenomenal and both movies (even the good one) fail to capture what made the original story so great

It makes me so sad that this movie claims it’s related to a comic that was made by a victim of drunk driving. O’Barr’s comic was his way to cope with his fiance’s death due to a drunk driver. I have that book. Fantastic graphic novel. The author is named James O' Barr. His girlfriend was tragically killed in a car accident when he called her to pick him up from work. He struggled with guilt and ended up drawing and writing the book by himself as a coping mechanism. It took him a long time, but it paid off. O' Barr was also on set for the '94 movie, and became close friends with Brandon Lee. Lee's freak accident on set devastated O' Barr, and he ended up believing the story of The Crow was cursed. However, he is now happily married and has children. He is at peace living a good life now and free from guilt.

I think the author tried to make a sequel called The Bride, which ultimately inspired(?) Kill Bill but something happened and it was never published. I'm pretty sure there are many Crow variations out there too, but most of them are not by James O' Barr.

There actually was an anthology of short stories published - not a comic, a novel - that was pretty good. It covered exactly what you said, with different people from all walks of life receiving the power of The Crow. I can't remember the name of the book offhand but it should be pretty easy to find if you look for it. I used to borrow it from the library every so often because I couldn't afford to buy it.
