I always considered VEGAS as one of the best soft to edit videos, even tried to learn it for some time last year. Some of creators I watch shared that they are using it too, and its very strange for me to hear that VEGAS in 2024 can be seen as some ancient tool. I guess I didn't explore modern editing community enough 😅

I know this isn't his usual type of video, but as a professional editor, I find it very helpful to see Charlies process. I like seeing when creators break down their creative process like that. Maybe the tips wont work for every specific program but the gist of "find a software/tool that lets you work as fast and efficiant as you can, and when you do, stick to it" is so useful, as tech evolves more and more we start to get in our own way by costantly trying new software, new gear, etc. and having to relearn or reshape your process just adds more friction between you and a finished body of work.

@AnonsTreasures4 сағат бұрын
I do professional editing, this is pretty true. You'd be shocked at some of the very simple, very short edits I've done for people. One dude just wanted 16 minutes of no edits, no music, just cut down for time. It took me maybe an hour? 2 hours? I charge by the day so it was just odd. A lot of people just dont want to do it, which I get.

@@AnonsTreasureswhy do you recommend charging by day instead of hour?
@AnonsTreasures2 сағат бұрын
@leandro6234 $350 to $450 depending on the complexity of the work. If its super simple I may just bring it down to like $150 like I did in that scenario.
@AnonsTreasures2 сағат бұрын
@tomdepain Professionally speaking, that is what is most common. But it totally depends on the type of work you are doing and how long you've been doing it. I know what I can do in a day, and I generally understand how many days it will take me to complete a project. Since this is something you usually agree on at the beginning, it's easier to say it will take 4 days to complete than trying to guess how many hours. I also feel like its just better for the client knowing "It'll be here in this many days, and I am paying this much for each day" so if you have to do revisions they know it'll be a full day so get it all out now instead of nickel and diming hours.

I noticed the audio strategy the first time I was editing a project. One small problem is that there is some points where you may get silent because you are locking in, but usually if the content is good then you will talk about it afterwards so you should still be able to find this kind of stuff pretty easily. To make this strat even easier you can make mic audio louder that game audio.

Dude, I have been preaching this for YEARS. Sony Vegas is the best editing software, hands down. I started with it in 2009 and none of the other programs I have used even come close. HAIL!

I used Vegas back in high school for an AP art video project and I got an outstanding review from my teacher at the time.

It's actually crazy that someone with 16mil subs still edit his own videos.

It’s so cool seeing the behind the scenes, need to see more of these. I used to use Descript but my laptop was WAYYY too slow to handle it. So I outsource my editing but this is still cool.

Certainly helped me lose my edging streak. Thanks a lot, Charlie. 3 weeks of work down the drain LITERALLY.

That audio trick where he targets the spikes for highlights works if you separate your internal audio and microphone audio tracks, so make sure while recording, you have at least those tracks separated.

As a fellow sony vegaser i appreciate this, it truly is the best software (when it doesnt crash 4 hours into editing an essay or smth)
