It will be a mega challenge to get this kind of thing in VR, VR needs two images, for an AI to be consistent in generating two images of the same scene from slightly positions is a huge ask. The resolution of error would have to be imperceptibly small otherwise you’ll have two different images in each eye and it would just look like a blurred mess, even if we’re at a point where the video above looks 4K and perfect, to have a second render done by AI from another angle, I don’t think we’ll be seeing it for over a decade, that’s not even mentioning the performance load of doing this twice at a high enough frame rate for VR which at minimum you need 90fps.

So a few things: 1. They’re using Minecraft as a Proof of Concept to showcase the capabilities of their Oasis AI, which (from what I can gather) allows you to procedurally generate the entire world around the player based off of whatever information is fed to it. Which is honestly a pretty cool concept if you’re making something like a fever dream game or something similar to that. 2. There’s currently a contest going on in their subreddit where there are 4 different categories ranging from Easy to Very Hard. Each category has a specific task that you need to do in the game (such as turning water into ice, finding a horse, seeing the Enchanting Table menu, and showing the death screen when you die). 3. Funny thing is that there’s another category that’s marked Impossible with only one task: Find Herobrine.
@chumpylumpy807224 күн бұрын

@@chumpylumpy8072 Nope. The -"content"- dataset that the AI model is trained on is entirely generated by Oasis, by using hundreds of instances of bots doing various actions in the game, recording their actions and the result that is seen on the screen. Reason: you have to have input data mapped to the output (screen recording) data. Otherwise the model wouldn't be able to react to your inputs. That's why they simply don't use content downloaded from KZbin or other ready-made videos. It's also less jurisdictional headaches, less resources spent on data analysis etc etc etc

It is literally the first game I've seen that accurately potrays "the void" or a space of existential limbo. It is horrifying, yet I cannot help but be incredibly intrigued by it at the same time. The ego dissolves bit by bit because it doesn't really experience time and space while subjected to the game, just an endless experience while the brain struggles to successfully create some form of coherent context. The implications of this is sure to make any unprepared mind nervous. Lasting context is impossible to form since the game is a feedback loop of brief impressions that extends infinitely. There is no end to it. There is no point to it. There is nothing to win and nothing to gain. There is no order to this chaos no matter how hard your mind desperately wish it to be so. I think experiences like this looks to be the final boss of "liminal space horror" that became popular globally with media like the backrooms and such. It tells me that the fears and anxieties of the new generation does not revolve around something tangible like slender man and other horror trends of old, but instead they are fixated on the unexplored realities of existence itself.

A little summary for those that did not understand: Minecraft is there just for concept and alongside that, there is no game engine. There is no “3D world” of sorts rendered, it’s being manufactured frame by frame by AI, which is why it also forgets what is to your left, right, and behind you, leading to it creating some really superliminal shit that does not make one bit of sense
Yep it's just frame generation like DLSS except the occasional "real" frame never comes.

This isn't creating a game. It predictive image generation using AI. You're not playing a game on it but instead the AI uses the current frame and the user input to generate what the next frame "should" look like. The AI starts off with a real minecraft image and then every tick, based on user input, it will create a new frame based on the current frame to simulate minecraft gameplay. So if you look left, the AI will create a bunch of images each successively based on the last image to simulate you looking left in a minecraft game. There is no game engine, physics engine, logic, or memory, which is why things will disappear or distort as you look away because the AI only remembers current frame. Oasis is trying to better video generation, not replace game devs, which is why they call it an "interactive video model", because it is just a video of AI generated images that are based on user input(hence the interactive part). This will likely be used to improve video quality and reduce the load on computers since videos are so data-intensive. If you can fake the frames in-between real frames of a video, you can improve quality without sacrificing performance or time.

It's not. The problem is you think the "AI" is assuming, it's not, it's just random bullshit. There is no logic or thought or anything, it's just guessing based on a bunch of trained data (probably stolen too). Assuming is part of intelligence, which "AI" don't have. It's like if you make a story by randomly flipping pages of a magazine. Only people that don't know shit about Computer Science are impressed by this, which is really fucking sad.

@pantommy24 күн бұрын
@@groggod666 it's interesting to consider the difference between AI taking ideas and mashing them together as opposed to humans doing it. Personally, I think AI will never match a human creation simply by virtue of lacking the human experience. Everything we create is made through our lives experience, through the things we feel and think. AI is simply a set of directives with no real personality, and as such its creations don't amount to more value than the sum of their parts. When I string together a sentence or a paragraph, my choice of words, style of writing, punctuation.. all of it has meaning. Meaning which you and I can interpret, I can explain to you the concept of love and give you an example, and you'd probably relate to it. It's this ability to share experiences and feelings through mediums that makes us human. The things we put together are "gestalts", meaning that they have more value than the sum of their parts. An AI simply takes parts and arranges them based on a directive. The way it does so is arbitrary based on a set of biases and parameters. When I create something, I do it my way. And everyone does it in their slightly different way, because everyone's experience and the way they perceive the world is slightly different. You could interpret this as the "natural error" of the human mind, being unable to 100% reflect reality, but rather approximate it to its own perspective.

What makes this concept cool is that it basically is creating a game without any code. It’s ai generated images for each frame. It takes the previous couple frames and the mechanical input from your keyboard and mouse as a “prompt” to predict/generate the next “image” or frame of the game.

For how the AI was trained, I'm pretty sure it's just a video AI with a little bit of extra code underneath so you can move around and kind of play. I doubt they trained it with random Let's Plays. It was probably something more controlled like footage of people waking around common environments and doing basic things. That's why you have to select an environment to spawn into and don't just get dropped into a random seed. TBH, I'm very curious how good an AI like this would be if they just allowed it to have long(er)-term memory for continuity. That way it wouldn't change when you look away. But that's probably too resource intensive for a public project.

it is still decades off, the minecraft "AI" only works because it's trained on tens of thousands of hours of minecraft gameplay. if you want to make anything different then there isnt anything to train the ai model on also keep in mind that its a super computer running the "gameplay", its not appliable residentially, and even if you want it to run on a centralized server its still way too costly

The ONE use I can think of for this thing besides just being a trippy thing to look at is that it perfectly visualizes how fundamentally limited generative AI is. No actual thinking, just looking at something and taking a shot in the dark on what the next thing is supposed to look like. I genuinely believe that we're super close to the upper limit of what this technology is capable of and the companies working on this don't want to admit it. Even if Oasis "looks" better at some point in the future, that doesn't address the fact that it's still working based only on what's currently in front of the player. Even if they adapt it so that it can process a 360 view of the area and only project part of it to the player, the issue of what you do when an object is behind another object and how the game keeps track of inventory is an entirely different issue. It's funny how all of these issues are fixed by just adapting the concept of code. It gets to the point of "what even is this supposed to make easier".
