He actually is an anti-hero. There are many instances throughout the comics and other works he's involved in where he flip-flops back-to-back from doing good to bad just because it aligns with his own motives(usually someone he's hunting). The dude doesn't care about morals or whether he's doing good or bad. He just wants to hunt down targets that he knows will give him the thrill of the hunt.

Kraven's introduction would have been better served by Hannibal's treatment. Because instead of having him there doing exercises like a madman, why not just have him sitting there reading something or doing something calm, Sergei is not a Rhino or Sandman, he is very cultured and quite intelligent as well as patient, which would indicate that he is a man who waits for his prey to come for him, and then you have your beating scene if you want. In 7 minutes you could have told me that Kraven is not only strong, but that he has the knowledge and patience to be called a hunter.

@@suziechapstick8236 I dunno, there is a German animated film called "Das Kleine Arschloch" (literally translates into The Little Asshole) which is all about a boy of unspecified age being an absolute unapoligetic pest to his surroundings. His parents, his teachers, his neighbours, everyone. He delights in causing chaos and havoc and pulls no punches, even when dealing with disabled people or minorities. And its an absolute ball watching him. I would absolutely not condone or want to emulate that behaviour in anyone, but there is some thrill in seeing someone being absolutely the worst and having fun with it, but that movie also never acted as if the asshole was a good guy or hero in any way. I think there were also the Problem Child movies that had the same plot? And while I have not read them, I was told the Artemis Fowl series fully owns up to Artemis being a villain. And lets not forget about House of Cards which also showed Frank Underwood being an absolute cuthroat powerhungry ruthless politician and it was still delightful watching his machinations, despite him being a highly corrupted man who destroys lifes. So I honestly think you can get away with displaying bad guys on TV that are unapologetic bad guys and you can make it clear that you should not root for them, but still make them entertaining to watch.

This. I think people forget the tiers of comic roles. Superhero- doesn’t kill, saves day/world and has super powers. Hero- doesn’t kill, saves day/world. The guy responsible for all this garbage is Tom Rothman. Rothman was the Fox executive who supposedly didn't like the basic idea of ​​comic book movies and the X-Men in particular. He has taken a more active role in this regard starting with X-3, X-Men Origins/The Wolverine. He was personally responsible for delaying/refusing to greenlight a Deadpool movie, insisting that it would never turn a profit. And apparently he personally insisted that the character be kept tight-lipped in Origins. Sony's poor record with the Spider-Man-less Spider-Man series is all under his watch, largely picking up discarded plans from before the Marvel co-production deal (which was Pascal's doing, if I'm not mistaken). Sony can make good Spider-Man movies, the problem is that they are making these SSU movies so safe. The Venom trilogy could have been an R rated Action horror, Morbius could have been a modern take on Dracula mixed with Frankenstein. and Kraven could have been a villain origin story about a man seeking his greatest fight. Even without Spider Man they had the chance to be creative with the Sony Spider Universe and be ambitious like the Spider Verse movies but they aren't. The Spider Man Noir show looks like the only thing that looks promising from this SSU franchise.

People and studios need to understand just because people don't go to the theater doesn't mean a movie is bad. I haven't seen a movie in theaters in a year. It's not worth it, lifes to busy, it's super expensive, and I can enjoy things more at home. The theater experience isn't special anymore. I'm excited and interested for this movie but I won't spend $100 for me and my wife to go and get food/drinks. I'll buy it when it comes out on video. I watched the 8 mins and I'm excited more.

Venom worked because he was one of the more popular Spider-Man villains, and the movies had a chance because Venom was still recognizable without Spider-Man. Kraven is less obscure than Morbius, but is still relatively unknown to non-comic readers (or people who don't really dwell in the superhero genre that much), I really don't think this'll work. You shouldn't have movies about obscure comic characters without the main popular one™ to catch the viewer's attention. That's just me being pessimistic, probably.

Remember in Spider-Man Homecoming when Vulture straight up kills Shocker?? For a second, he felt like a real villain. Why not just make him like a Predator. I mean he is a guy who kills for fun. He hunts people because he wants to. So just give him Arnold to hunt and make Arnold a good guy who wants to protect his family or something, but in the end Kraven kills them all because he wants to. No need to make him sympathetic, he is serial killer. Just make him a villain in his own movie.
