Penn 525 Mag American V's Chinese made: What they don't want you to know - A PMR Review - Part 2

I find the new 525 casts very well, no over run and fishes on even after accidentally falling wet onto dry sand. nothing on the reel to rust either. .

I've got an abu 6500 swedish made that's worn on the spool both sides. Change my bearings every year. Chinese or not. The penn reals work, never had an issue with them yet. 3 years later

Thanks Mate, saved me an expensive mistake, bought a second USA version instead. Use them in the Bristol channel it gets a bit rough for my beloved Mag Elites. The Penn is damn fast, on the limit of my ability. Maybe one of your sideplates next they look really good. David

let me ask you one last question just curious what you think about these American-made reels and these companies. for example . Avet reels. truth reels. accurate reels. These are all American-made companies along with Penn reels what do you think of the quality of these companies and their products I think personally they do a fantastic job good product good quality

+Jim Bilbrey These reels do not get to the UK very often because the import duties are horrendous and UK distributors are greedy price wise. I have good things about Avet reels, not so much regarding the Truth reels, their cage is a three part cage and I hear that in some conditions it moves during the cast causing the spool to rub (But they do look nice)... I have not seen an Accurate reel or heard anything so you will have to be the judge there.

Thanks for the reply. I will take a harder look at the truth reels. To see what kind of problems may exist with them. Avet reels are good I strictly fish for big catfish here in the states . Looking for good catfish reels to handle are trophy catfishing over here. Not that I will be getting any trophy catfish LOL but I'll give it a go. Keep your videos coming I like them

I have in my hand my Penn Senator 113 made in the USA that Penn took back from China. for whatever reason one of them was quality. Abu Garcia love their product. they are having trouble with China has well and we all know this your video shows The poor quality of that particular real that China produces that's all I'm saying. people spend their hard-earned money on these products you would think that these other companies from other countries would take a little pride in their work.

+Jim Bilbrey If you give a manufacturer a budget for an reel, you would get that reel built to that budget, no more than that! You get what you pay for...... Abu is not ABU any more. They were bought out over 20 years go by the American company Pure Fishing, who also bought out Mitchell, Shakespeare, Penn and the list goes on.... I used to drive a Mustang Cobra GT, BUT the standard of manufacture was very poor compared to my previous car (Lexus Soarer, made in the far east.......)) or what I drive now (CLK 55 AMG made in Germany....) yet the Mustang was not made in China, IT WAS MADE IN AMERICA

I understand what you're saying . I work in company for 17 years that supplied Ford car parts we had startup issues. I know that Ford made the tooling and we were asked to make a product to their spec using their tooling. That had to be done if it was not done you would lose your contract and you could not get no more work through Ford. What I am simply saying the quality of the reels need to get better and I know American car makers are not the best in the world I give credit where it's due . We own 2 Lexus cars very happy with them but that is a quality Department that is proud of what they do unlike the people that are putting these fishing reels together. Like I said before if I were to say to my company art to my clients I am only wanting your money I don't care about the game quality I wouldn't have a business. You are very educated in what you do I like your videos but you know as well as I do has the video showed that there is some sloppy work going around and people are tired of spending their hard-earned money on crap work. That's all I'm saying

if you think China and makes a good product why did Penn pull the u.s. senator 113 out of production over there that's just one that I know of an Abu Garcia needs to do the same thing

+Jim Bilbrey Pure Fishing stopped production of the Penn Senator briefly in china 2008 - 2009 then restarted production 2010. The reel has been made in china since 2005. The reason they moved production recently was cost. It is now made in India China is not nearly as cheap as it used to be, India, Mexico, Russia, Malaysia and parts of the US now have cheaper production costs.......

Perhaps you might want to see part 1 before you comment, and answer me this; Why is Penn not selling this new Mag2 and now the Mag3, 525 reel in the US???
