It's Penn and Teller, so a part of me isn't 100% sure that they didn't come up with a new way to do the old trick and somehow get that card on top. It wouldn't be the first time! Probably luck, though. If they had a new method, they'd probably throw in something to disprove the old one, right at the end, just to mess with all of us. :D

They can always find the card, but it isn't always at the top - which makes it look much cleaner. That is, unless they created a a different method for an old trick, which would be a cool bonus.

If you watch the cuts you can actually see what is happening and the eating is more of a distraction. I dont think this trick is supposed to be the greatest trick, but it is educational in that it can show how distractions can also help a trick succeed.

Brook did the trick! in 2:00 you can see that the 6 of diamonds is the last card. At the cut in 2:02, the 6 of diamonds is then directly in the cut. It is planned from the beginning that it is the 2 of hearts. Presumably one card is bigger so that it always makes the cut in the right place. I think it's unworthy of Penn and Teller to have helpers. But it was the same last time!

She was not in on the trick. This is a very utilitarian trick which can have many different presentations. This was a clever and unique presentation. One of the great things about it is that the magic can happen without you even touching the deck...as they demonstrated here.

But she's taking random numbers of cards and switching them. If she cuts 5 cards but I do 6, the card no longer is on the top, it's 1 spot lower. That's why she's in on it

@@FigbootonPens as someone who understands basic math, I know that's mathematically impossible. If you move the same thing 6 spaces, then move it 17 spaces, it's not going to end up in the same place. It's going to be 11 places different. That's just how math works.

I used to not like Brooke because she seemed to be just imitating Allison and didn't seem at all genuine. But I feel like she has gotten a lot more comfortable and has gotten into the groove of things so now I don't mind her. But as far as looks go I think that also originally turned me off of her. Not that that's her fault. It just seemed like a cheap gimmick pulled by the producers.

Brooke is not on it. This is quite classic card trick, I learned it in the first English magic book I ever bought, Close-up Card Magic by Harry Lorayne, published in 1962.
