Had to go back a second time after realizing exactly who was controlling the thread.... The amount of time for practice needed to make the ball moving back and forth and seemingly jump must have been astronomical. I can see now how he was doing it, but to make it look that good he had to have been using most of his body to control that one string, that no one can even see... insane.

Ar 2:00 when the ball moves towards him you can actually see the string and you also see his right hand move controlling the string even if the camera angle are selected to hide it, also hand movement when he release the ball from the ring. The backdrop need to be "busy" to not reveal the string too easy. So he is actually controlling the ball with only a string and he does it to perfection.

I was thinking it wasn't thread at all. I believe they used 2 magnets. One on pens finger (pinky) and the other within the hoop. when he put the balloon/ ball behind his back, he put the magnet in his back pocket. At the very end, nothing was cut, he just removed the magnet.

While that is one way to perform this trick, they did in fact use string taped to the ball.

Watch at 3:00, when the ball jumps through the hoop it starts to roll backwards for a second because the thread hit the hoop, he then puts the hoop back over the ball before he picks it up because it has the thread around it, at the end the thread goes through the hoop then up to the rafters

He has a string hooked to a mechanism inside of his left sleeve that allows him to extend or shorten the string. He may have more than one string that he can attach and reattach at will. I am not sure if he unattaches/reattaches them from the ball or from his arm.
@Thorinbur8 жыл бұрын
+weirdokiller123126 I don't think so, he can shorten and extend the string by pinching and by tangling the string around his body (hence all the piruets he makes to untangle and tangle it back)

Thorinbur I think he wraps is around himself like you describe too, if he is altering the length of the string just like that it is all the more impressive. But I still think he had a mechanism for changing the length.

Seriously, why does every P&T comment section have a solution to the trick involving magnets? We're literally told here how it's done. People give magnets way too much credit for what they can do.
@iglidor7 жыл бұрын
People give electro-magnets with lot of precise control, tests and preparations way too little credit. Or better yet, people give way to little credit to how much illusionist can do with pre-prepared stage. This could have been done with electromagnets. Either laid tracks under stage or more easily done with circle of magnets centering ball and with increase of power pushing it upwards. You move that magnet circle below and ball on stage moves identicaly. You push power up, it can float in air. You push power up and immidietaly turn it off and it seems as if ball bounced. But I agree that this could also have been done with just string. It would be much more difficult and thus impressive but as rule of thumb, do not believe what illusionists is telling you. It may be truth, it may be distraction.
@Señormakey7 жыл бұрын
So the ball attached to the hoop at that angle... 100% electromagnets, right? You realize how fucking dumb an idea using magnets it? They do not have a linear power output, so you'd not see parabolic motion at all. Also, you realize how incredibly difficult it would be to coordinate that act? Either they have one of the most insanely powerful algorithms for motion tracking, or they are planning the act down to even the slightest motion and pause. Anyone thinking there are electromagnets needs to go an find someone with an electromagnet and see if you can hover a ball at all.
@SonOfFurzehatt7 жыл бұрын
Quality Thank you. You said it better than I could.
@iglidor7 жыл бұрын
Quality: No matter which way they did it, that act definitely required immense planning to even the slightiest motion and pause. That has nothing to do with electromagnets. But other than that yes. Realize one thing: Every single movement and act of Teller could have been just choreography to already predetermined movement of that ball. If you have under stage several electromagnets asembled into large circle (lets say with half meter radius) on platform that is following programed path with preprogramed power outputs at correct times all you need to do is then train to do choreography according to that ball movement. And that is as feasible as dancing. As for ball attached to the hoop, you do realize that it was not attached right? That he was just balancing that ball there with external force be it string or el.magnets pushing it that way.. ANd since you seem to be quite skeptical, check this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rpTJhmuMg5ypgtE Floating balls thanks to electromagnet. Put it on platform to be able to move it. Put into it program regulating power that goes through it over time. And you too can start training choreography for whichever trick you want to do with it

@whitecraneman8 жыл бұрын
This is 100% done by Teller. Penn from offstage would 1. Never be precise enough to pull something like that off. 2. He would never be able to make the ball jump through the circle. The way he makes it pass through at the end is because the first time he did it at 2:56 the thread was not inside the circle at all. He used the ball's momentum to pass it through while the thread was above it and then closed the circle around it. Then he resets the balls position but the second time the thread is already passed through the circle.
