I used the 300DX and 4000DX over the past year, your review is spot on Captain, they are excellent for the price and very durable. The DX version has beefed up internals over the standard Battle series and really makes a difference! Excellent review, I couldn’t agree more! Thanks for sharing!

Really enjoyed you review on the DX, and your fervent endorsement of the DX tells me that Penn is back with a really tough, high quality, saltwater reel at a great price ! Looking forward to y'all making more fishing and tackle videos; always learn something, and y'all are fun to watch ! Tight Lines !!!

Just got home yesterday from a trip to Puerto Vallarta. I took my Penn battle DX 5000 and found no problem bringing in Yellowtail,big Jacks,Roosterfish and big snapper with it. Ive used it often since I got it last year but this was the biggest test I gave it. But inshore I'll still use my Stradic/St Croix combo.

I bought battle 3 3000 DX for christmas. Until today it was probably used for like a good month of fishing. No problems, it feels sturdy as from the beginning. It is a bit noisy compared to Shimano but the feel of toughness, smooth drag and seals that will make it last got me in love with it. It is a bit heavy 330grams for an inshore fishing reel but get over it. It is Penn which will probably outlast me with proper yearly maintenance so all in all, it was a grea buy IMO. Tight lines everyone!

@@see_you_out_there a year later, the reel is smother than it was in the beginning lol! I paired it with 15-40 gram spinning rod and it feels awesome. Definetly my deaest reel to this day. I own several reels for spinning including Sedona and Fuego LT2023. Battle DX is still my favourite.

In your opinion, can you rip your Shimano e sustain as far as you can cast the pen battle? I have a pen battle three, 4000 and I love everything about it but the weight, but I’ve tried the Daya Fuego and don’t like it, and I tried the Flueger President and don’t like it neither one of them cast as far as my pen… Thanks for your input and tight lines!

I am looking at buying a new reel and have been eyeballing the DX so much the last few days. This is the first video that seems to be honest and genuine. Most big channels are sponsored somehow by Daiwa / Shimano, etc.. and just tout the $300-500 reels all day long. I am historically a baitcaster, so I have a question for you, what size rod would you pair this 4000 with for speckled trout and reds? I am curious if I should even buy the 4000 or go down to the 3000, however there is a chance I might hit some big bull reds. With the 3000 and 4000 being the same price, and my experience landing bull reds when I'm not even trying to, I think the 4000 is the way to go. But should I stick with a Medium Heavy - Fast Action 7 footer, or go to a 7'6" on this spinning reel? I will be using different baits, from shrimp and croaker, to crab, and even some Z-Man mulletron's.
@see_you_out_there
@see_you_out_there Жыл бұрын
Personally I think a 4000 is just a taste too big for typical inshore fishing. I prefer a 3000 on a 7'6" med to med-light, that is just my personal preference. I can cast a very long way with that set up and still have the backbone needed to stop fish. However, a bull red will work you over pretty good on a 3000

Me and my friend had no idea it was made for ladies it looked nice so I bought it and I still don’t see anything lady like about the combo. If your gonna make something ladies edition you should Atleast make it clear that LE means ladies edition and not limited edition

Hey Brad, just found your channel. Nice to hear you’re from the Florida panhandle. I’m originally from the panhandle myself and relocated to the Tampa Bay area. I’m about to purchase the Penn Battle 4000 DX. I’ve heard nothing but good things about the reel. I mainly do inshore fishing and want to pair this reel with my Calico Jack MH 8’ft. Would you recommend 15lb braid or 20lb braid? Kinda torn but I know either will do. Just wanted see what your thoughts were. Look forward to more of your videos. Fish on!!

Sweet reel. I hope I can buy every single one in that line up. Tried them in a near by store this morning and they were extremely smooth and I definitely like the Eva handle. For the price you probably can’t beat it. I like my shimano and Daiwa reels, but when I go Saltwater it’s definitely penn reels on my spinning rods 👍 🎣 For my freshwater and bass fishing 🎣 I mainly use shimano and Daiwa reels, but my small 1000 or the 2500 penn reels I use also for bass fishing because the drag is extremely smooth 👍 I got the 2500 dx this morning, but can’t comment on it yet because I have not used it yet. 🥳🎣
