I really like my bailless Spinfisher and I’m glad they made a bailless Slammer in the 5500 size. I even upgraded the handler on the spinfisher with a slammer handle. I’ll definitely be picking one up.

Did you have any problems with snapping off any lures? I want to get one but ive never used bailess

@@acvte4679 I haven’t broken off during a cast with a bailless. It really didn’t take long at all to get used to setting the line on the roller with a finger, and it takes a split second to do it when you get the hang of it. I’ve also heard it might help prevent wind knots, and I haven’t really run into that problem with the bailless. Give one a shot!

Is this reel good for throwing big lures off the piers and is it easy to cast

I throw a lot of soft plastics with jig heads, bucktails and pencil poppers ranging from 1oz to 2 3/4 oz on a 9' rod and 30-40lb lb braid. Casting distance varies depending on the rod, lure, weight, line and wind etc. However, the reel is super smooth and being bailless, there is no worries about the bail closing on you during a hard cast.

Man that would be so sick to own one of the bailess iv's. I've never owned anything bailess before bc im scared i would spend the money on it and not like it and then have to figure out what to do with it. Closest ive ever come to this is removing the automatic bail trip. im gonna see if i can find an old one to review for my channel. Does j&h have any older models laying around they would let go for cheap? doesn't matter the brand.

What the point, bail less? Once fishing changes to this entirely I'll start fly fishing I am not a fan of this design for a few reasons I don't believe this would work anything over 12lb test this looks like a complete,flop why would you take such a great Reel and chop it,wastes time and money.

Bail-less has been a popular design for many decades among surfcasters in the US Northeast states, including New England. It is very rarely seen anywhere else. Many other reels by both PENN and other companies come with the "no-bail" design, but its unlikely to become popular anywhere else.
