Penn State Nittany Lions' New Explosive Offense Shines

The Penn State football offense, led by new offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki and quarterback Drew Allar may have gone from predictable to prolific. They were fun to watch in Saturday's win over West Virginia. And they will be fun to watch for the rest of the 2024 college football season! Multiple formations and constant motion will keep Penn State football opponents on their toes during the 2024 college football season. And the rest of the Big Ten should take note as well.
BUCKEYES WRONG MOVE?
Speaking of taking note: Former Ohio State football quarterback Kyle McCord looked fantastic at Syracuse Saturday. We thought he was a pretty good quarterback during the Buckeye's previous college football season. But he threw one bad pass in the fourth quarter vs Michigan, lost the game and was exiled after going 11-1 and throwing 23 touchdown passes and for over 3000 yards.
Meanwhile, Ohio State football newcomer and transfer QB Will Howard is a career 59 percent completion passer and completed just 61 percent of his passes Saturday… versus Akron. Hmmmm. Do you see what we are getting at?
DUCK, DUCK
Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel tallied some big statistics but Ducks fans seemed concerned that they only beat Idaho by a 24-14 score. Are you concerned?

I will say this about Penn state’s offense, I want to see it against better opponents but it clearly has a very high ceiling. It already looks better than last year in the first game and it will only get better throughout the season.

They couldn't do this against the likes of UMass Deleware last year. Definitely more optimistic about it translating to bigger games than previous years. Still need to see it first though

They did well, but they have improving to do to compete for the conference championship. The run blocking has to be more precise and sharper. The passing game has to be quicker and more accurate. OSU's defense is really good. Their DL is strong and quick. They have a great secondary. Slow-developing pass plays will be eaten alive by OSU. Allar is not going to scramble for first downs like he did on Saturday. He will either be sacked or held to a small gain. The rushing attack has to hit the LOS with excellent blocking and timing. I am NOT knocking Penn State's offensive performance on Saturday, but I am saying they have to dial it up to another level. Everything has to be better, more precise, and quicker.

Let us not forget that Allar scrambled for several first downs (at least 4 times, maybe 5 or 6). It kept drives alive. However, it also means that the WRs were covered, which is not so good. The passing attack has to be quicker and sharper. The coaches have to add more variation. Allar has to hit those guys in stride. The goal is to win the B1G conference championship. It's going to take excellence.

As a PSU fan I’ll say this from what I saw Saturday compared to last year. First was seeing wide open receivers. A rarity the last few seasons. There was an actual rhythm to the plays. Unlike getting the snap and dancing around waiting for a receiver to get open which was a rarity also. I saw actual schemes that created open receivers that were hit in stride. Refreshing to say the least. Nice to have an OC who will actually attack a defense and keep them guessing.

It doesn't matter Penn State is Penn State a good football program but not great or elite. Will they make playoffs well on the first game played yes but let's wait till they play 10 more. PENN State is great against average teams. But against good to great/elite teams they are not

​@clarencewalder2985 , they lost to the eventual National Champion by 9 and stopped their passing attack so well Michigan didn't even attempt a pass in the 2nd half, OSU it was an 8 point loss. If PSU had even a hint of a heartbeat on offense in those games, they are 12-0
