This entire bit is just absolute professionalism. Love watching these two.

I remember seeing this as a child and I absolutely fell in love with them at that moment.

The look on Tellers face when Penn starts to speed up is priceless!!!!! These guys are geniuses. Be sure to check out the Di-hydrogen mono-oxide clip.

What a great poem and delivered with such aplomb.

Why does everyone see tellers silence as liability? He does it on purpose and it makes it better. Penn and Teller are more than magicians, they are comedians and actors.
@AlkisGD6 жыл бұрын
They are. It's only a pity because Teller has such a wonderful voice and is quite articulate. I looked him up shortly after discovering the duo years ago and was dumbfounded. He gave a talk at Google and also talked in some documentary about the joy of being fooled by other magicians. (Maybe that gave them the idea to create Fool Us, I don't know.)

When they did this on SNL (original cast) it was even better. Maybe it was later and they had refined it more. I think they had Teller suspended over a bed of spikes. At the end, Penn stood up and slammed the book shut and Teller escaped at the last second. It was UNREAL.

I saw them do this live in SF in the 70's. It took my breath away.

5:35 the reading speed from this point on reminded me of some punk rock classics. Like "John Wayne was a nazi".

'the Abbot and Costello of magic.' I always thought more like the 'Jay and Silent-Bob' of magic, but yours works too. =)

5:37 - 5:54 sounds like lyrics to some kind of death metal/ hardcore punk song hahaha

Is that Robert Englund at 5:04? I think he's a fan of Penn & Teller. He looked like that whenever this show was filmed, 1985/1986. Did Penn memorize most of Casey at the Bat? I noticed that he didn't look at the book all that much.
@rockoperajon Жыл бұрын
Considering how much they must have rehearsed this routine, Penn almost certainly had the whole thing memorized forwards and backwards.

This makes me think about all the escaping acts in AGT. They made their traps and they tried to escape from them. And people were cheering for that.

@DLPBurke I was worried about what would happen if Penn's hand slipped while hauling him up. I assume they have a safety lock thing in the pulley.

Penn often calls himself the "albatros" around Teller's neck. Without Penn, he would have performed all over the globe and not just in English :)

They’re a perfect pair. Teller is silent but an expert magician and Teller is loud and bright, specifically to distract.

I always try not to let Penn distract me with his spiel and watch closely. And they still always fool me.

@FatherTime89 I've always liked names like Casey and Taylor better for guys, but I think it may just be that they are uni-sex names you know?

there is an age old saying... if it offends you dont watch it. also i got to agree, i cant see how this is offensive to anyone... was it something in the poem, or the stunt itself ?
