What size would you recomend for sturgeon fishing? Plan on using braided line

A lot depends on what size braid you use. In general; 30=size 5, 50/65=size 7, 80/100=size 9.

So whats the main differences between it and the slammer . I have the slammer in 4500 and 5500 and find them both amazing.

I got my New Torque 2 5500 bailless in September. I spooled it and was ready for some kingfish action today, but low and behold the drag isn't working. It lugs like a plastic $5 combo reel, and the drag knob seems unbelievably cheap. At this point I'd say I'm more disappointed than I've ever been in a reel. $479.28 and I'm standing out there with nothing to pitch a bait with. Saw 2 nice cobia as well.

If the reel was just purchased in September, you may have some recourse with your retailer, although if they can't assist, it sounds like your warranty should cover it. First definitely double-check the most common causes of drag malfunction, such as cross-threaded drag knob, and loose/misaligned washers under the spool.

Penn fishing, does the Torque II have the same pinion support design as the Slammer 3?

Gearing better on TRQII than on SLAIII, though both use C-n-C machined gears, drag knob on TRQII aluminum.

Hi, there. The Torque II spinning reel is built with an IPX6 Sealed Sealed System which keeps water out of the body and spool. While we don’t recommend doing so, it can be reeled underwater.

I skished with the old torque all the time, on the new one i think they went lighter on the sealing to get a more free spinning reel.

I noticed that both the Torque II and Slammer both put out 60 lbs of drag....Does the Torque have a more durable drag system than the Slammer under heavy pressure or is it the same?

Thanks I appreciate your response...Sorry that I didn`t watch the whole video I asked the question before I watched it....I thought it was just a general presentation and didn`t realize it would be as detailed...I was really curious because I noticed they both seem to have the same drag system and the same drag pressure but a much different price tag...I did my research and found out why and also realizes the Penn Torque II would be the right reel for me...Thanks again and tight lines!

i have both Torque 1 and 2. you get what you pay for,......... to me its like having a V8 motor in a Honda S2000.........great power and awesome reliability. Horses fish in with ease or if you want to play, just turn the drag down and let her run.

The PENN Slammer III series has the same sealing system as the Torque II's [IPX6 rated], and is currently available in a 3500 size and a 4500 size.
