That's an awful lot of work when the original components usually just need some capacitors replaced and some cleaning. The record changers were solid, usually need clean, lube and a drive wheel. Congrats on making it work, and I'm glad it's alive again.

I'm so happy to see someone enjoying a Penncrest! I was lucky to find one at an estate sale. They wanted $200, but right at the end of the sale, one of the people worked at the estate sale knew I kept looking at it and told me I could have it for $50 if I took it that day! Everything work on it, but the sound is very quiet on the record player portion of it, which makes me think either a bad cartridge, bad needle, or both. It had aux ports actually in the back of it when manufactured, so I can still plug another record player/CD player/phone/computer into it to play music. Original speakers still work, radio works, all the lights function. Sure it may not be a brand that is notable for their stereo consoles, but man does it sound wonderful! I feel like it was a good deal, but trying to find replacement cartridges and needles for it is near impossible!

Is there no sound on second half of video? Love the rebuild.

Hmmm. A budget console stereo, a budget turntable and a budget record album on a budget record label. Sound like being raised a cheapskate begats cheapskate. Now J.C. Penney had some marvelous stereo equipment in their MCS series, built for them by Technics. If someone wanted to "upgrade" one of these consoles and keep it J.C. Penney, drop in an MCS series receiver by Technics and a real record drop-changer like the MCS 6700. Add your Bluetooth and satellite receivers to the auxiliary outputs and inputs of the receiver. If this has a faux wood plastic cabinet, forget about it.

I like to restore these as a hobby trying to keep them as original as I can. Although I'm against restomods I must say you did some nice work on that.

So the Denon is on the left of the original console? I have a Zenith that I am considering bringing up to modern standards

I had to delete music that was playing to make YT happy. It was a quick fix.
