I so appreciate this video! It got me thinking about how we’d structure a potential trip, but ours would be more like four days. Interesting to hear that some of the food was underwhelming. I’d always heard all of it was absolutely amazing and the best ever, which kinda felt like a sales pitch to me

I think four days is the perfect amount of time if you have little kids. By day 6 mine were kind done. The first 5 days were the most fun and magical. Yeah some of the food was really good and amazing but probably like 30% of ours was just okay. And a couple meals were disappointing for the price. I definitely think it’s more sales pitch about the food because it depends on what you are getting and from where.

Disney is so much more expensive now. We paid at least $10,000 for 5 days for a family of 4 on our last visit to Disneyland. We are done with Disney family trips but did enjoy them.

We did a $420 per person hot air balloon ride in Kenya...because of the price I almost didn't do it - but soooooo happy I talked myself off of the budget cliff and did it...best experience ever.

I love that you did it! And yesss! I want to save for the future but the future might not happen or I might not be able to move around or who knows?!?!? I know for sure walking 10-15 miles a day at disney for 7-8 days straight probably isn't something high on my old age bucket list so why not go now?!?! I had moments of feeling like it was too much and questioning the spending but we do need to splurge and enjoy while we are young and able too! A hot air balloon ride in kenya sounds amazing btw. You find the coolest stuff!

We do more frequent trips but for shorter stays! Our next trip is just two park days and three night. We have reservations for Akershus breakfast, Ohana dinner and breakfast, Harmony Barber Shop, Oga's Cantina, and Crystal Palace. One day we do Magic Kingdom and then an Epcot start parkhop to Hollywood Studios for Fantasmic. Rest of the time is pool time. Split stay between Pop! and then two nights at Contemporary for convenience of travel with a toddler. We love it! We always make sure to pay off our trip in full before booking the next. Our direct flights are also a fraction of what you are paying. You did great on your hotel fees.

Love that plan! I tried to get Harmony Barber Shop but decided too late and spots were gone. I fly out of a crappy airline city so anything direct costs hundreds more than the city 3 hours from me.

@PenniesNotPerfection this is my first time not at a value resort so I'm pretty excited for Monorail access. I was very impressed with how much you saved on rooms, food, and flights. Harmony and Ohana were toughest to book. Sometimes you can get walk-up appointments though! My husband buys a tracker and gets alerts when a reservation pops up. We try to go in the off season or look for deals on rooms. Our plane tickets from Columbus have always been less than $350.00. We only do carry-ons because we take short trips and pack lightly. My husband did a short father son trip to NYC and it was actually more expensive and no direct flight, for all the folks who say Disney is too expensive. It is, but there are ways to save. You have to prioritize. I appreciate your transparency! Hope you have magical trips in the future with your family.

Sounds like you've got it down! There are definitely ways to save and it seems like you just have to look for them and be creative. Or pick where to save and where not to save! Ohana was seriously my favorite food while we were there. And the only place where we were able to take leftovers with us and that was a delight because I ate them the next day and STILL SO GOOD.

Damn I never tought it was this expensive to go to disney. I bought a house in florida and we have season passes and the passes run from 4something to 1200 -a year per person. I travel for work, so this is more of a vacation house for me, but to be honest Disney is priceless and the experience you get there is so much worth it. I hope you & your family had fun & next time you do come, go during the holidays… now thats worth every dollar, especially hallooween & Christmas! ❤

Sooo pricey! I felt like it was magical for them and us too so I’m glad we went but it’s such a weird kind of trip because you basically pay for your level of enjoyment/convenience and that can get way out of hand from the base price.

Congratulations. I spent 10k for a 5 day stay. I think it’s worth it just 1 time. But I will never go back. For what I spent, I could have spent 2 weeks traveling around Europe with my family, visiting places like England, Rome, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Greece. But I’m glad I experienced it once.

Your hotel cost is amazing! If that hotel is comparable to Disneylands Grand Californian, then the cost would’ve been closer to $600 a night, totaling $4800 for 8 nights.

I admit I have only done Europe by myself! And honestly since I last was in Europe my standards are waaaay higher for travel. This is one area where I've allowed lifestyle inflation honestly. Like back then I stayed in some incredibly sketchy hostels that I would not do again by myself and definitely not with kids, lol. I did Europe on a very cheap budget previously but that wouldn't be my goal when I do go next.

I give my teenager $100 for food and spending (she has to manage her money). Per day at Disneyland. So for 4 people and 8 days I would expect that to be $3200 on the frugal side. I’d say you did well.

I seen someone post that it cost their family 10,000 to 15,000 and they have annual passes and are DVC members. It’s crazy expensive to go to Disney,that’s probably one if not the biggest reason I haven’t been yet

I would not be surprised by those numbers at all. If you go and don't really think about what you're spending it would be incredibly easy to spend that much even with DVC discounts.

Where in Europe? I was super surprised by how many people I came across at Disney from England! It was shocking I kept hearing the accent and talked to a few people. I had no idea Disney world was popular enough for that? The alcohol was insane. I was happy to skip it besides a couple just to try.

@@PenniesNotPerfection Ireland 🇮🇪 Disney is super popular with folks from Ireland and the UK. Disney World travel company has an entity here so we get great deals, especially on tickets. A 14 days park hopper ticket is like $650 per adult 😊 We travel so far, so they know we’re going to stay and spend a long time.

That's so cool! That explains a bit of it then. That's wayyy cheap for tickets. And actually now it makes sense what the british family was telling me while we waited on a bus... they were saying they bought a 14 day ticket even though they weren't staying that long because of some sort of deal. I had noo idea but this clears it up some. Special enticement for y'all to fly on over! :)

@@PenniesNotPerfection totally! Without the 14 day ticket it just would be too expensive for families. I mean just look at what it cost you guys for 8 days. Universal for example doesn’t have such offers, so a 2 day park hopper for their parks is the same price as you pay on the gate. Sucks 😂

That's a great amount spent for 8 days. I have to look into DVC for our trip next year to see if we can get a good deal. Art of Animation Suite, 4-Park Days, and Dining Plan is $7,500 for only 6 days -_- and we're going during Halloween Szn so I'll need to spend approximately another $700-1000 on Halloween Party tix!! Smh

Crazy! Seems like dvc really cuts down costs if you use it often like going often. You can also rent dvc points but I don’t know much about that other than I saw it in someone’s video when I did research originally. I did find it crazy how everything is extra like your Halloween party or the late night hours stuff. The plain park tickets barely get you anything at this point!?!

Wow Disney is expensive! We took a trip to Guatemala for a month and spent $7,000 for a family of 6 (that’s including our one month expense her in the states since we were gone for a month we have leave bills paid for)

Everyone saying her vacation was expensive doesn’t know Disney cost lol! For 8 days 4 park days last year at AOA and one night at riverside it was $12,000 and we drive the 12 hour drive. This year we are going for 10 days 4 days at the Rivera renting DVC and the rest at AOA, and 5 park days. We are driving again and the total for this vacation in March of 2024 is $13,000…. Yeah it’s expensive but sooooo worth it! We have traveled we went on cruises and been to different countries and beaches and we agree Disney World is the best vacation we have ever had! We are going back at the end of 2024 it will be a quick trip with tickets to the Christmas party. 6 days, 2 park hopper days, and 1 day for the Christmas party. Staying at the Grand renting dvc points it will be a total of $7,000! We are so thankful to be able to go twice in one year we can’t wait! It’s an investment but amazing memories!

My normal audience isn’t Disney focused so that’s definitely part of the comments. Before this trip I had no idea how much it cost. We had lunch at the Rivera and it was soooo nice. That's not bad at all! I did see a lot of people complaining that it is more expensive now and they offer less for what you pay just base rate. Like they took away magic express and other stuff. But I personally don't have anything to compare it to in that regard.
