I went under that bridge so many times as a kid with my dad in his truck. 20 years later, walking over it was awsome.

Fantastic series Dean so glad you did this one! Brings back so many great memories. I walked it way back in 1979! We were really lucky with the weather though and used YHS's and pitched our tent whenever we could. Highlights for me (although far too many to mention) were definitely Malham Cove, Pen-y -ghent, Hadrians Wall ( especially the views during the last stretch) and the pubs of course!. Least favourite had to be the countless blisters and the midges while camping near rivers.

Great video and soundtrack too Dean (love a bit of Grandmaster Flash). Only just catching up with your last few days as I was doing the Yorkshire 3 peaks on Tuesday. Totally agree that you meet such lovely folk on these walks and have great conversations. Hope the rest of the walk is as pleasant.

Thanks for watching Ian, I'm just about to set off to walk to Horton-in-Ribblesdale and Pen-y-ghent so will do 1 of the 3. Hope you had a good time on the Y3P, we really enjoyed it when we did it last year. Atb

Really enjoyed the Y3P. My legs are still a little angry with me and sore but loved the walk. Did it in 11hrs 20 mins so pleased with that. Enjoy today’s section. ATB.

Nice photography of places I remember from 1974. You keep saying that there are times when you might hate the walk and I suppose that depends mainly on the weather. I did the walk with two friends and loved it all the way but I was very young, only 21 and much more resilient in those days. Its much easier when you are younger.

I only have fond memories of this adventure in 2019, I don't think I hated any of it or found it hard in retrospect :-)

Thanks for these vids. A silly question maybe, but what GPS app do you use since the Viewranger demise? I'm really not enjoying OutdoorActive but am persevering with gritted teeth and a much, much bigger battery bank.
@DeanRead Жыл бұрын
Hi Jimmy, I’ve been using Outdoor Active only for viewing Ordnance Survey maps until the free subscription ends that we were given as ViewRanger users. I have a Garmin watch so I just use the Garmin Explore app for plotting routes now. There are so many apps out there but I’m not going to invest time into them after what happens with VR. I’ll stick with Garmin for Route plotting and maybe get an Ordnance Survey subscription when the OA one runs out.
@jimmys60ny Жыл бұрын
Thanks Dean. I'm looking for something that doesn't turn my phone into a potential Greenpeace protest. I cannot understand why OA hasn't used the VR people to throttle back battery use when either tracking a walk or following a route, when in active use. The problem I have with the Ordnance Survey app is that I walk a bit in mainland Europe and bought a lot of maps via VR. Thanks for your time and input. Starting the PW again next week, so hoping for a fair break weather wise. Good advice regarding the food situation when the mind kicks off.
