Yes Newport is about 20 minutes south of where I live...I have seen that car on several occasions..The paint is stunning along with the stance and the narrowed rear with the huge M/T tires.

Osceola was the 1st strip I raced on. I remember it well. My first race was against a brush painted blue 60 falcon with a brushed red inside. It sounded like crap and I was afraid it would leave parts after the green light. Green light came and that guy was gone. He was shut down before I was half way down the track. So cool that you got your dad's car back.

Dual Dominators on a 6-71. I can only imagine how many gallons per mile this things gets. Of course the most important thing is the number of smiles per gallon! Cool car, I have always liked the Willys, takes me back to the ‘60’s gassers! Coolest class ever!
@HorsepowerDepot2 жыл бұрын
60s gassers are so awesome! We found a steel 40 Willy’s a few months ago. The plan is to build a 60s style drag car. One of the way too many project cars we have lol!

Super cool! Love the story. For me, the car was my dad’s 67 Goodwood Green 327/350 Corvette Roadster, which he had to sell in 1986 because of their divorce. Seeing your Goodwood coupe always makes me think of growing up, and my dad, who passed in 2003.

CONGRATS ON FINALLY BUYING THIS BEAUTY BACK!!! I can easily see why you were SO upset when your dad sold it all those years ago. I felt the same why back when I was 13, and my dad sold our '57 wagon. It wasn't a 2-door Nomad, but still, it had a new paint job and totally rebuilt small block with a 3 speed manual in the floor. All of my little buddies loved that car too. We would hang out ( loitering ) at the corner convenience store, and every time dad would happen along, pull up to that red light, all of us would yell at him to kick it. Most times, he would. It would burn out & chirp 2nd gear. My friends thought I had "the coolest dad in the world"......LOL. No speed demon, but a really fun ride. Those were the days.

Are the wheels out of style ? I’m a old guy and would still buy those wheels. Love them . Love Willy’s as well .

So cool to get your dads old car back. I have fond memories of the 40 Willy's from the CAR-Toons comic books. If the toon Willys was in motion the front wheels where in the air and flames were flying out the zoomies with clouds of tire smoke pouring off the rear tires. Looking forward to seeing both the work you guys put into this car as well as the payoff runs down the 1/4.

I have seen that car on the streets a year or two ago....I live south of Detroit...What town in Michigan did it come from? I believe i saw it in the annual downriver car cruise which is held that last Saturday in June.

It came from Newport Michigan. I’m not exactly sure when it made its way back to Michigan. Was sold at a classic car dealer around the same area last year.
