@alcolovr190 The B&M steam engine is down at Danbury. They own the 1246 and the ex-VALE 103. Glad you liked the video.

@alcolovr190 In the far-off future. Right now they have passenger cars and diesels to get in working order. They're still expanding their yard/shop facilities as well.

@shininghappyperson7 The reason for the 6 wheel rear truck is to support the extra length that makes that engine an FL-9 and not an F9. The "L" stands for "long" and the reason for the extra length is the HEP or Head End Power unit that is housed at the rear or the locomotive.

Metro North and CDOT have a pool. I remember about 2 years ago when I went to this railroad museum, I saw FL9 #6691 or 6695. I also saw a New Haven Geep on the Naughatuck Railroad once. It's nice to see these nearly 60 year old engines still in use.

@CSX6000 Well B&M (NAUG) 1732s prime mover is slowly getting worked on as we have other projects that are more of a priority at the moment. Once we get the prime mover is back together I believe the plan is to sand blast the loco and put it back into the original paint scheme. Blue hoods, Black cab, White doors. (forgot the name of the paint scheme). She will be a very nice running and good looking loco when she comes back to life.

@USMCnBNSFdude We have three RS-3's at RMNE. We have NH 529, B&M 1508, and MEC 557.

@alcolovr190 You are correct. I am familiar with the NH version of the McGinnis scheme, but I wasnt aware that B&M called that a McGinnis scheme also. I was talking about it in the shop one day with the guys and they called it something else but I cant remember.

Cool they got an F9! I rode this back in like 2003 when I was 6. I think they had an RS-3. I'd wish the metro-north still used the old NH scheme on some of it's engines like they used too..

@FL9AC I am very familiar with the FL9, as I regularly work on and with 2019. You are correct. It is indeed because of the support needed for the boiler and the later HEP unit. The FL9 is 9 feet longer than the rest of the F series though. I should have been more elaborate in my original comment. My apologies.

@cybertrain92 I do agree that you guys have other projects that have a higher priority. I can't wait to see some of the coaches with a fresh coat of paint!

Nice video. Two things though. The 2203 is infact the last of the U-Boats. And the B&M loco is a GP9 not a GP7. Overall nice Vid. You picked the best spots for runbys, and you got great shots of 2019. I couldnt really see in cab windows too well but I think I may have been engine crew that day. Not sure though. Also a little "fun-fact" for the F-unit lovers RMNE also has the last F-unit EMD ever built. NH 2059 (FL9)

@USMCnBNSFdude Metro North didn't use it, the Connecticut Dept. of Transportation used it. FL-9, BTW.

@CSX6000 Oh yes, you and me both. 4992 is in the shop now for roof work. Then I beleive the plan is in January 5046 is going in for wheel work and new paint. I've heard its going back to Canadian National paint. (green, black stripe, and red leaf emblems) but im not 100% positive yet.

Do they allow cab rides or do they follow fra guidelines?
@seagraver7 жыл бұрын
The FRA has no regulation that prohibits a cab ride. FRA regulations are minimum requirements that railroads must meet to operate. Railroads may choose to place additional rules into effect that are specific to their operations. Ask the train crew and they'll let you know whether you can or can't.

@cybertrain92 Thank you for the correction on the B&M unit. It would be great to see the B&M unit operating again at some point! The RMNE by far has one of the nicest shop facilities I've ever stepped foot into. If I lived closer, I would love to be a volunteer at the Naugy.

Is this the NH track used by Amtrak for its MONTREALER service? I rode that service a number of times between Philadelphia and Montreal but it was always at night, hence I never saw the beautiful scenery. And twice, I was on the Montrealer when it derailed. 1970s shameful neglect of American railroads!

metro north and conndot are the same when it comes to operations. plus, the BL20s are so unreliable that I wouldn't be surprised if one or two FL9Ms (namely 2024 or 2027) were to get reactivated on a temporary basis.

I would love to see the additional FL-9m's sent to museums, they pulled alot ot trains, when I was a student at Linden Hill School,in Hawthorne, almost always,an old green coach would be waiting at platform,track,42,for all of the students who i still call my friends, would be waiting for the 8:00 pm train which would leave on time, and arrive at exacrly 9:00 pm,where the school station wagon would be waiting to bring thestudents back to school,(more then 4 coaches would be pulled by FL-9's.
