After the show ended, my household was silent for about 45 minutes. We just couldn't speak. We were in mourning over the show! About two days later, we tried to discuss the show. We so loved this show. It was so strong, beautiful, so exciting to watch. The chemistry between John Claire and Vanessa Ives was so lovely to see. The ending was heartbreaking, freeing and so well done. We loved this series from beginning to end (OMG - this can't be the end!!) We even have Vanessa Ives tarot cards!! LOL!! Excellent series and wonderfully done, Everyone!!!! Thank you so much for a beautiful show! But please don't leave or end this! Please??

It was a great 3 year run. Big budget actors and huge sets can't last if their is no viewership. It wasn't well marketed by Showtime, and became a small sleeper hit with fans. But in the end, it fell short of getting nominations the last two years, despite great acting and direction. Cult followings don't cut it these days unfortunately. Sad to see it go.

You had at least 3 more seasons in you guys. It was one of the freshest, most well written and produced shows I have seen in years. The costumes and set design were great, musical score outstanding and the casting sublime. Damn shame to cut it short. You had many more story lines to run. Showtime execs = Bastards.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY A LOT OF PEOPLE WERE DISAPPOINTED IN THE FINALE. TO ME, IT WAS PERFECT. I think it was realistic. Would I have liked the show to go on for five more seasons? Of course, but it ended on a great note. Vanessa Ives was so, so tired of everything she'd had to endure, and her so-called "destiny" as the mother of darkness. What's wrong with being selfish and choosing to die? Why can't she have the ending she wants this time? She spent years tracking down the evil who kidnapped Mina and trying to "atone" for her darkness and her sins. Can't people understand that she was simply worn out by the end of the show and that's why she wanted to die? If the world was going to end in darkness, she didn't want it to be because of her. She chose to die and have Ethan kill her to save whatever soul she had left. Amunet might be reincarnated again in the future but that could take millions of years before that happens. The way Vanessa dies was perfect in my opinion. When Ethan started praying for her and she looks at him in astonishment, it as such a powerful scene I could not help but cry. And then when she started praying with him.. And then when she dies, and sees God.... That was truly powerful and it was a good ending for Vanessa. This woman, who all her life believed herself to be damned and all she wanted was to be good, finally realized that she was still saved. I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE ARE SO PISSED OFF. Even Dorian's ending was fitting, in my opinion. He's an immortal, and he'll always just be...... there.

Well, with a stronger writer the series could have offered many more adventures as a rich character as Vanessa Ives would certainly have it in her. We all know that bottomline is that some anonymous corpo exec in a thousand dollar suit chose to delete the series since it would make his spread sheet look better. So don't over romanticize the end. It was a camouflage of cold hearted corpo decision, not an artistic turn of events.

I think a lot of people are angry with the acceleration at the end. When they cleraly had decided to cancel the show. Catriona? Hyde? They're kind of useless. Still I don"'t think the story would have ended differently. You wrote it all. Vanessa's SOUL would always be chased, there would never be true peace in life for her. Death was actually the only way out from the beginning. I always felt it was going to end that way. And yes the ending was perfect. As to me I 'm really so GRATEFUL that we were given a proper ending and not just a cliffhanger at the end of a season that would always remain unanswered. At least we had everything we needed to grieve. So I'm totally with you here!

I just don't get it. I started watching this show about 6 months ago and binged watched all the way up until now. I liked every character, there was never a boring episode! It had me from start to finish. Everything about it was great. From the writing to the camera work. To the environments as a whole! To end it like that is just really disappointing. Stop CONNING us! Stop trying to make it seem like "it was planned". I see right through your lies. If this is indeed how John Logan wanted it to end, I am SO DISAPPOINTED in him. All throughout these years, you created an absolutely stunning world with rich characters filled with potential for further storytelling. And what do you do? You give us a rushed two part finale leaving characters in limbo and Miss Ives as a damsel in distress who selfishly chooses to die only to have Amunet reincarnated in the future, ready to reek havoc on another poor woman's soul. That is not the strong, determined, cunning Vanessa Ives that we saw on screen when she crushed Lucifer and sent him into the underworld. I have always regarded John Logan as superior but if it was indeed his plan, he has completely ruined his image as a writer. I cannot believe he would slaughter his precious show like this.

I was really expecting a more in depth backstory into each of them as we have had with almost every character in the show. After watching the finale you definitely get the feeling it was rushed, makes you wonder what really happened behind the scenes

I still miss Pen Dread. I miss it so that I guess, in a fit of denial, I began a "continuation series" blog. I managed to bring Vanessa back, for starters, and I've had so much fun ever since... sometimes, just sometimes, maybe denial isn't so bad! :D I miss the show so very much, though, still...and videos like this only make me rather angry that it ended as it did. This story was truly a deep mourning for me and the ending though alright,honestly left so many unanswered questions for the other characters. I do not know what to watch anymore either. It seems other shows cannot compare. I may change my mind in the future, but it was a "highly charged emotional rollercoaster of emotions". You get so entangled with the characters, and there was sooo much more to be said, at least two more seasons that could have unravelled. Everything about this show, makes almost impossible competition for any other newcomers. The cast was outstanding, the costumes, art direction and of course story line /script were all sensational, except for the ending, which did leave me confused, and disappointment with the potential it could have mastered up to. I do especially feel cheated with Victor's story especially, as there were so many empty spaces there, and again questions "what happened to him" kind of feeling. It was the first time I had taken a real shine to the "Frankenstein's back story. An empty black hole it left me with; full of heavy soulful despair ;( Amazing series though. Truly one of a kind.

Fans are disappointed in the ending feel this way because they wanted more at the expense of the 3 year story that the creators and writers wanted to tell. If you watch again and pay close attention, you'd see that this is how it was meant to be. After all, negative feelings get in the way of enjoyment of this sacred show and the shared experience between fans, so like Vanessa would say, just let it be in peace.
