His change was a bad thing to me an others. He and Amy were better with robot personalities, but in order to force the relationship with Amy, they changed her, and then changed him. With 12 seasons of a Chuck Lorre show, they inevitably engage in all the cheap tropes to create new episodes arcs. Namely, the sudden change in a character between seasons. In real life, people usually change very slowly, and less as they get older.

They didn't want to pigeon hole Sheldon's character, so they didn't make him "autistic." However, this is how autistics operate. My 20 year old child doesn't know why eye contact is important but does it anyways because she were taught that's how people socialize. Oh she also don't talk about her interests, because most people don't find it interesting. Not because she knows why this is the " rule" of socialization.

@@Marialla. It's very clear throughout the show that Sheldon has some sort of development disability that inhibits his emotional side. My guess is they're hinting at autism, just on this scene alone it's obvious they're hinting at autism since Sheldon has a hard time understanding body language. Being autistic yourself, you should know that autism is a spectrum and autistic people can fall anywhere in that spectrum, meaning not every autistic person is the same or acts the same but a very common effect autism has on people is lacking empathy and obsessive behaviour that can sometimes translate into selfishness. That doesn't mean they have ill intentions, they just don't have the emotional capability to understand that.
