If your gonna be straight cruising. No major hills, not planning on doing any serious tricks. then I'd go for a Penny board. They are just so fun and zippy to ride, especially in the city. You can zip around people, and it barely weighs anything, so carrying it isn't a hassle at all. I honestly love the thing.

The penny board is probably one of the funnest boards to cruise around on. A penny board has its place in anyones set of boards. So I'd say go for it :)

nickel is the penny brand, just a larger version of the original penny board. i got mine today, went out for a spin and loved it! took a fall getting used to the size though, but it's a very small break in period i'd say...the nickel allows for a more natural stance (on a regular skateboard) than the smaller board. Oh and i'm 5'10 but im 180 with size 10....it holds me well, dont think you'd have a problem.

These will be alot more friendly than regular skateboards. They won't need as many pushes to get you going. They are much more fun & smooth to cruise around on. Learning to skate will take some getting used to, but learn at your own pace. Have fun and stay safe.

Penny boards are great for cruising. I would recommend a plastic board, solely for the durability. You can get them wet, and not have to worry about warping or water logging.

Well, a Penny board is much more zippy and compact, so it's a really good cruiser to get to class, and throw in your locker/bag. Longboards on the other hand are going to be much more stable at higher speeds, and theres a huge variety. Both have their pro's and cons, but personally, I'm a longboarder.

The pink one was a Stereo Vinyl Cruiser. You can get them at your local Zumiez shop, or online for about $60 - $80.

They are pretty similar. The stereo board is made out of a harder plastic, while the penny boards feel like they are made of a more durable, almost rubbery plastic. i've ridden both, but i like the penny, only cause it feels much more solid than the stereo.

If money isn't an issue, and you don't want the stickers n sunglasses. I'd definitely recommend the penny then. The stereo board in the video is a friends, and theres a lot of play in the board, like rattling bolts/hardware. but everything is tight. I've never had that issue with the penny. I think the penny just feels more durable and has a smoother ride.

ahah, alright so. you need at least 3 people to play this. so each one of you can either choose 1 or 2. and on "Pull!" you pull out the number you chose, and the odd one out is the winner. :) in this case, me and my friend on the right chose 2, and my friend on the left chose 1, so he won.

Rough roads will be a little hard to push through, considering the wheels are quite small. Once you hit some nice, smooth roads, you'll be gliding.

it really depends on what kind of riding your looking at. A penny board would be great for if you're just cruising around, and need something nice and compact. They are really easy to carry around, and you can just throw it in a bag. While a longboard, i find, is more fun, cause you can do more things with it. Tricks n what not. It really comes down to if you need that lightweight package of a penny. Also keep in mind a Penny is only 100 bucks. where as a longboard might be a bit more costly :)

Honestly, any bearings will do. You shouldn't have to worry about having the best bearings. I've been using Bones Reds ever since i started skating, and they never let me down. The bearings that come with it are pretty weak i gotta say though. If you were to upgrade them, Just get a pair of Reds and if they ever start to get all bogged down, they're only like 15 bucks. :)

I did a quick search on them. They pretty much look like a Penny, without the logo. My guess is that it will ride pretty similar to a Penny if "Fish" actually spent time and effort making them, using quality materials, etc.

It's not a knock-off, but actually a Stereo Vinyl. Those are good boards as well, just a different brand.

ahah, trust me, our shoes are mangled as of now... some ways to slow down if you're finding yourself gaining too much speed is to either carve it out, or foot brake, or you can be all fancy and bust out a slide. ;)

Their pretty much the exact same board, if anyone says one rolls better than the other, it's not true. To make a skateboard "Roll" better, its all because of the bearings/wheels. In terms of both boards, they feel exactly the same. The only thing I'd say is that the Penny board feels a bit more sturdy/durable.

Well, the Stereo Cruiser is cheaper by like 20 bucks i think? 79.99 vs 99.99. The Stereo is made of a harder plastic than the penny. The Penny plastic feels almost a little rubbery. I find the penny feels more durable than the Stereo. It really comes down to how much you wanna spend. Keep in mind, the Stereo comes with stickers, and a pair of sunglasses. ;) so I'd say the Stereo is more bang for your buck.

The white boards do tend to get a bit dirtier than others, but since they are plastic, you can easily clean it with some water and a cloth. Skate it up! they're gonna get dirty anyways!

Hey! I was skating for 7 years on normal skateboards. Now i'm 26's, and prefers Penny for city cruzing. I can say that the Penny give me more fun, than normla skateboards gave...

aha, well.. These things were definitely NOT made for downhill. but if they are only mellow hills, you should be okay. if you're starting to get speed down a hill, Carve. Carving as much as you can will prevent you from going down the direct apex of the hill. In other words, let you scrub off some speed. Also, learning how to foot break will be one of the most crucial part of skating. If you're gonna learn how to ride, you gotta learn how to stop. :)

The guy who was skating in Converse's skates in them all the time. He says he likes the thin soles of the shoes, so he can feel the board under his feet. I guess it's a personal preference kind of thing.
