@@comfybrah9333 "we have to start gatekeeping our music genres" why not share them tho? Would you rather like people to despise your music genres, culture etc...? Did you know Hiphop artists used a lot of samples from classical music (which originated from West-Europe btw)? Would that also be considered stealing? No one was gatekeeping classical music tho and this way a lot of iconic Hiphop songs were born. I tell you this as an artist. There's no way you can be absolutely original, you'll always get inspired by someone and as long as you respect the original artist it's fine to get inspired and make your own variations. Also, don't forget there might be things you are using, wearing,... which might be originally from another country or culture.

@@ariadna2430 reggaeton is a genre in itself, it’s the artists that choose to display women’s bodies. The genre is not the problem, it’s the artists’ mindset. Stating that genres such as rap, reggaeton etc. Which are predominately Black genres further demonise Black music and Black people. So it’s safer to say that Western artists should learn to stop sexualising womens bodies. (I personally think it’s a cultural difference on how men display women in the west than everywhere else).
