please keep in mind, if you come here before the end of may the 3 mile bridge is still down so its about 30 minutes to an hour and a half commute from Pensacola to gulf breeze, traffic is horrible every day of the week because of the bridge being down. just a heads up.
Thanks for the heads up! We are planning to come next week from California on May 20-25. How is the weather there? Should o be concerns of hurricanes or storms?
@murrayer54263 жыл бұрын
@@dollrose3085 generally speaking may is too early for hurricanes, but the season officially starts on June 1st so it's cutting it a little close. within the next week you'll know whether or not one is heading towards the gulf. the only forgiving part about hurricanes is that you always know when one is coming at least a week in advance. as far as weather goes, it's very stereotypical florida. one minute it'll be bright and sunny, the next it will be pouring rain. coming from california i will warn you that the humidity is horrendous. it feels like you're breathing in water and youll start sweating by just stepping outside. other than that it's warm, but shouldn't be blistering in late may. hope you enjoy your stay.

Just got home from Pensacola. You forgot to mention the USCG that is stationed in Pensacola. I have a son who lives in the barricks on the Naval Base. We only saw a small portion of Pensacola and wish we'd seen the entire city. Considering moving there soon. It's between Pensacola, Destin and Orange Beach, AL. The Pensacola Bridge was under repair and the delays were insane! Took us forever to cross it. Also enjoyed two meals at Crabs. The shrimp was very good! Loved a pizza place called Poppa Pizza I think. The Wet pig BBQ was also good. Stayed at the Hampton Inn, Pensacola Beach. Would NOT recommend. We paid some serious cash to stay here but during a heavy Thunder storm, water came in through the windows and into our AC unit in our room. The management said that was normal during a storm. Total BS! The net was down most of the time during our stay (a week), one of the elevators stopped running and the beds weren't very comfortable. For those who love military history, if you have a couple hours to spare, drive up to Mobile and take a tour of the USS Alabama Battle Ship. It was used in both WW2 and Korea. We got up there a couple days ago when it was 94 degrees and humid as hell. Because of all the metal on the ship, it felt like a furnace. But it was really enjoyable to climb up the ladders and see much of the ship. There was also a Sub you could get inside but it was too hot for us.

How often does it rain? We plan on going the last week of may, 2023
@vytallicaq.68812 жыл бұрын
It's unlikely to be a problem for you. The wettest months are in summer. And even then, the day will typically start sunny, a storm cloud billows up out of nowhere, moves in swiftly, dumps a ton of rain, moves out just as quickly, and it's sunny again. Days with lingering overcast skies are rare. The skies are usually spectacular. Amazing sunrises and sunsets. Clear, clean sky of the deepest blue color. Sometimes with majestic cloud formations. At night when the stars and the moon are out, it gives the beach a magical glow. You'll love it. May and October are the best months. But if you can stand the heat and the crowds, the Blue Angels beach show in July is a thrilling sight to see. It's beautiful November through April, but the water is usually too chilly for swimming. Have fun down there!

Pensacola Beach sand never gets hot under your bare feet even on the hottest and sunniest days. Also when you kick your heel on the sand it barks. I've been going there for 25 years.
@kazzicup3 жыл бұрын
How do you explain that the sand never gets hot under your feet even on the hottest days?
@johnryder75313 жыл бұрын
@@kazzicup The sand at Pensacola Beach, and other beaches in this area, mineral makeup is quartzite, without many other impurities, which makes the sand white. White objects reflect the sun rays making the sand much cooler than darker sand. Lake Erie which is near my home has shale, which is dark grey or black, in the sand which makes it very hot on sunny days. One has to be careful not to burn your feet.
