They are beautiful! I love updates like this so I can get a better idea of how the plant will grow and look after a few years. I hope I can find some of this variety to put in my own garden.

Me too!!! I just bought 2 of this exact Penstemon for my grown daughter who's new to gardening. She has no idea how much she will end up loving these plants! What an adventure!!! And THIS video of an updated, full grown, specimen is going to help my daughter visualize her garden!! Thank You Laura for this video!!! ♡♡♡

We bought three plants from the only place we could find them available - an online distributor. They occupied two different spots and didn't do much. Once we moved them to a spot with full sun they took off and are now beautiful.

I LOVE THESE KINDS OF VIDEOS. I also love how you point out the things that make the plants beautiful beyond just the flower etc. Like the structure of the bloom. The seed pods etc. If everyone could just slow down and pay attention to all the beautiful details that surround us we would be a whole different world.

You know why they do so well? They’re a native plant to most of North America. Laura’s is a hybrid but if you visit a prairie in June you will see fields of them. And those don’t get fertilized or trimmed. They just do their thing without human assistance!

I found a Wheee Hosta plant today and was excited to see an unusual plant that "Laura from KZbin" showed all of us. I haven't put it in the ground yet (soil is like cement, no rain) but will keep it watered and hopefully the deer won't find it.

I have these with white flowers and burgundy leaves. I didnt know they were called penstemon, I just went by the sellers tag of "Red Bearded Tongue Huskers". One of mine is in a full sun area and the other in part sun. The full sun does much better and I have been amazed at the growth on both of them!

I love this concept Laura. You are right, it is difficult to discern how a mature plant will eventually look in the garden, especially when you purchase a quart or smaller plant at the nursery. I hope you will do more of these. Thank you

I am so jealous of how many of your perennials have busted out so well this year, Laura! We had two cold snaps here in Denver in April (also Zone 5 with horrible clay soil -- I feel your pain, sistah!) where we got down to 18 degrees and all of my roses and other plants that were ready to rock got severely crippled with their growth. My 2-year-old Electric Blue Penstemon still looks like a seedling. 😞 I have added a bit more Biotone to it, so I hope that helps. At least I can see your garden and be happy. Thanks, girl and to Messieurs Aaron, Benjamin and Russell, too! xoxo Christine in sunny CO 😊🌞

What beautiful flowers and the leaves are gorgeous!!! I need to look and see if they are deer resistance? It’s great seeing the different stages of plants. I have a question about hydrangeas??? They are looking absolutely gorgeous but some branches are laying on the ground? They are full of flowers . Is it because the flowers are heavy? It’s only on a couple of the plants the rest of the plants are spreading out but are not getting taller. Thank you for sharing your beautiful flowers with us:)
