That won’t last for long though. Trump has a mandate to secure the border and many moderate Democrats will sign up to help him on that issue. They’ll probably use the same technology that Israel uses to find tunnels and then blow them up. By the time he leaves office we’ll have the most secure border on the planet. In the end, this will be good for everyone and will cost MUCH less than the average of $83,000 per year in benefits that we were providing any random person who would strut across the border illegally. A secure border is good for everyone. Historically, a secure border and preventing illegal immigration was a traditionally liberal position. In fact, in 2015 when Trump had just burst onto the scene Bernie Sanders was asked about Trump’s border proposals and was not only supportive but also referred to open borders as “a totally insane Koch brothers’ invention”. Bernie was right. Open borders undeniably suppress wages and raise housing costs which have had a direct impact on our cost of living crisis. Enhanced border security and deportations will enable Americans to find more affordable housing as it takes millions upon millions of illegal immigrants with housing vouchers out of the rental market thereby easing demand and lowering prices. The ONLY reason this border crisis started in the first place is because Democrats wanted to score political points by framing Trump as a Nazi. Now we’re going back to a sane border policy. A significant majority of Americans agree with Trump on the border and Democrats are committing political suicide by opposing him just for the sake of doing so. If Democrats don’t start embracing policies popular with the public they won’t win the White House for at least another decade.
