The majority of the "cheat points" were where they were singing the background vocals/beats for the songs...usually from one of their arrangements, so they demonstrated that they knew which song it was even if it wasn't overly recognizable to someone not familiar with their arrangement.

They've covered 98% of those songs. :) Mitch listens to EDM, he even has a solo project in that genre - his moniker is 'Messer'. They actually did Evolution of Michael Jackson in 2015. :) You should react to their rendition of 'Can You Feel The Love Tonight', it's one of their best arrangements ever.

I've watched several reactions to this video, but yours is the most analytical (which I appreciate), on 2 points especially: 1, that a bigger group like this (especially if they each listen to different genres) has a huge advantage because, as you say, what one person doesn't recognize, another will. 2, they did get some, let's say, generous credit in a couple of cases (when they sang the background rather than any lyrics -- still, they did demonstrate that they knew the song). The selection of songs included many that they had covered, but that seems fair enough because probably it's done that way for all the artists attempting this.

They did The Evolution of Michael Jackson. Please add it to your reaction list. You would enjoy. As for the Carol of the Bells, that's how they started that song in their video. It always gets me how they all blank out on "Get Lucky". Daft Punk was their first Grammy! and you would enjoy their rendition of "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" I prefer their version and I've been to multiple Elton John concerts.

Bing Crosby is one of the godfathers of Xmas music. He was and incredible baritone/tenor and one of the most popular and influential singers of the 1930's - 1960's.

"Circle of Life", "I Just Can't Wait to Be King", "Be Prepared", "Hakuna Matata", and "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" were all written by Elton John and lyricist Tim Rice :) ETA: oh, and PTX have pretty much covered 95% of the songs in this at some point. Either the full song or part of it in one of their medleys. And yes - they have done a Michael Jackson medley: "Evolution of Michael Jackson"
