I keep begging them to rename this "KEVIN IS THERE!". You will never know how many times one of us has written this - Kevin was offstage for the choral part putting away his cello from the prior song. During Avi's bass solo, Mitch moved to center stage, Scott followed and Kevin came onstage at the far right. He is there for all of Aha!, but unfortunately, the video never shows him - not even an elbow! So we have to explain this every time. Anyway, you can hear his crazy beats, whooshes, rattles, and this could not be done without him. Also, the opening piece was brought to the group by Avi, something he had performed in a prior group, to give Kevin a chance to get back onstage. Thanks for the great reaction.

@@rocksolidreactions3901 As many probably said, this song is named Aha!, and it was originally done by a British singer named Imogene Heap, who is a favorite of Mitch. PTX did do a cover of the song you mentioned - Take Me On, which was done by a group called A-ha. It is very confusing! Their cover of Take Me On has Mitch in the lead, and he kills it. He sings those high notes like he's out walking the dog.

So fun. No one is ever truly ready for this video, which is part of why pentaholics like to throw it at new reactors. As Jenna said, Kevin was stashing his cello. He always has a cello segment in their concerts both to show off his talents and to give the rest a bit of a break. The choral piece is Christus Factus Est, and if you watch their documentary, it opens with them working out how to use it as the opener for Aha. I was already a fan of the original song by Imogen Heap and was delighted when it showed up on their first EP, but this particular live performance blows the recorded one out of the water. You can tell the video recorder is a big Mitch fan!

@@rocksolidreactions3901 You have to go if you ever have the chance. I’ve been to three of their concerts. The last one was in 2019 and had Scott’s group Citizen Queen and Rachel Platten as openers. It was freaking amazing. I’ve seen two with Avi and one with Matt and while I definitely love Avi’s butter tones, Matt was awesome too. You won’t be sorry! The last one I was lucky to be able to see them in Green Bay and only had to drive 5 miles from home to do so.

What he's making look easy is incredibly hard, which shows just how incredible a voice he has. He's not from around here, and the Angels come down to take lessons on hitting those high notes. I know most people focus, deservedly so, on Mitch in this song. However, I think Scott and Kirstie’s parts are probably the most difficult rhythmically speaking. In fact, I feel their’s is probably the hardest. You can see how much they are moving their hands to the rhythm they each need to hit- and they’re opposite eachother. If they aren’t 100% in sync with eachother- Mitch’s part wouldn’t even be needed since the whole song would fall apart

Thank you for hearing Kevin. A lot of people don't. Kevin does quite a lot in this song. Here is a good view of him. This is how the song was originally rehearsed: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqOWc2ygZ7x5Zs0 The backstory for the Star Vista performance is Mitch was jet lagged and drank two Red Bulls. I have no direct knowledge of this but I find the story to be credible. Mitch can be seen in multiple videos drinking Red Bull and once commented that he had had a Red Bull and two cups of coffee. He (use to) overload on these things. Kirstin has commented that they all asked for Red Bulls to be in their dressing rooms when they arrive. If you watch the earlier songs from this performance he can be seen jumping up and down. I can believe he drank two of the Red Bulls that were in front of him. I'm going to add a note of caution to Mrs Rock Solid being present. There was one reactor who was just getting going, and doing a good job of it. Then he brought his wife/girlfriend/whoever into it. She started, to use her words, "hating on" Mitch. That didn't go over well with us Pentaholics. The guy lost a bunch of subscribers. PTX did record "Take on Me" by Aha. No video just audio. Mitch hits the lowest note I've ever heard him sing.

Everybody's been telling you how Kevin was backstage putting away his cello at the beginning of this one. But I hear there's more to the story as well. Apparently during Kevin's cello solo in the previous song, the rest of the group was backstage taking a little break. Mitch was suffering from jet lag and downed two Red Bulls. With the group back on stage, and right after Avi almost shredded the theater's sound system (and Kevin came back onstage, not seen on camera), Mitch's Red Bulls kicked in. He proceeded to go INSANE during the song, Avi continued joyously blowing the speakers out in the background, and what followed was what most Pentaholics now consider the best live performance of their career!! And that's why you get so many requests for this one. The heights I've heard are Scott 6'4", Kevin & Matt both 6'2", Avi 5'10", Mitch 5'9" and tiny Kirstie is 5'2". There's a hilarious behind the scenes video of Avi bench pressing Kirstie because he didn't have his weights with him!! The name of this song is "Aha", but they actually DO have a cover of A-ha's "Take On Me"!

Lots of great vocal acrobatics going on here! Listen to Avi while Mitch is crawling on the floor, because I believe he really is melting out the sound system at that point. And Mitch’s vocal control is amazing. The vocal coach Tara Simon really goes into detail over how he is using his mouth to shape the sound to perfection on that last high note. She’s a big Mitch fan, so her reaction to this performance is fun to watch. (Her reaction to Avi in their Silent Night cracks me up!)

It speaks to the groups professionalism that they carried on and did not let the technical problems get in the way of the amazingness. Mitch was on a different level in this particular show, and he knew it when he gave that tiny grin at the end. Scott’s the giant at 6’4” (he would be taller, except he has scoliosis). Kevin is 6’1”. Mitch and Avi are the same height at 5’10” (but Mitch often wears platforms to give him some extra height). Kirstin is about 5’4”, which is average for a woman but just a lot shorter than everybody else around her, so she always wears heels that are sky-high.

Nobody is ever ready for this video. No matter how many other videos they watch or how much we build it up, they're never ready. There's no way to be ready. Mrs. Rock Solid Reactions should definitely join you, it's always entertaining to watch couples react. Avi did damage the sound system. At the part where Mitch dropped to the floor, did you hear the massive bass drop? You can hear the speakers struggle with it and from that point on the bass in the song is a bit fuzzy. It's not unusual for someone with a voice that deep to knock out wussy speakers. I can't corroborate this, but I read somewhere that PTX actually started traveling with speakers when they toured because Avi knocked out too many sound systems. For another impressive Mitch lead, watch their cover of Gold by Kiiara.

I don't think anyone's ever ready for this performance, but if you've been familiarized with the mitch-slap you're not going to be blasted FULLY out of orbit by the mitch-PUNCH. ALso I was tickled by "they're gonna blow up the sound system at this place" bc (as I"m sure many people have told you lol) Avi absolutely DID bust the speakers, which is why the latter half of the song is extra fuzzy/buzzy

From what I remember, Scott is the tallest (about 6'1",) Kevin and Matt are also tall (about 6',) Avi is about 5'10, Mitch, even though he looks quite small and delicate, is a very respectable 5'10" as well, and Kirsty sans heels is 5'4". Oh yes, please Mrs Rock Solid Reactions, we would like to see you react together. Preferably to something your Mister hasn't already reacted to. I can't remember if you've done their 'Radioactive' cover with Lindsey Stirling yet, but if not that would be a good one.
