Mitch was absolutely on fire that night. When he crawled to the front of the stage, I'm convinced that at least 6 people in the front row wet themselves. ;) I'm also convinced that Avi's low note at the beginning damaged the woofers in the sound system, because almost all the really low bass notes sounded a little bit "fuzzy" after that. Wouldn't be the first time Avi blew out speakers, probably won't be the last. So many people get so focused on Mitch's amazing high notes in the big finish that a lot of them seem to miss the beautiful little run immediately before it. I noticed you visibly reacted to that run. I love that part too.
@pjschmid22514 жыл бұрын
I think it’s more likely that the microphone on the mobile phone used to record this couldn’t take Avi’s low notes. Phone videos are notoriously bad at best. All too often you have the person next to you screaming or even worse trying to sing along.
@markbell49824 жыл бұрын
I guarantee that if that front row contained any combination of gay men and straight women that added to more than 18 your numbers are on the money. I can see easily 1/3 of those who may have an attraction to begin with losing it here.😁

I've read a bunch of comments from other people who said that by the end of the night, that speaker was completely dead, so he mangled the poor thing pretty good, it seems.

Avi did not only sing liw, he also sung overtone. A technique where you sing 2 tones at once. There are not much singers that can do this. There are several shows where he really broke the sound system.

You have no idea how happy you made me by talking about Avi! This is such a Mitch-centered video (the fan with the phone camera is clearly obsessed with Mitch!) that most reactors see and hear only him. And of course that's fine, because Mitch was a tornado of fire! I adore Mitch, as any sane person would (lol!), but Avi is the center of my musical universe, so thanks for paying attention to him, too.

The real unsung hero of this piece is Kevin. He keeps the beat and changes it up in all their songs. The REAL moral of the story is that even if us, as fans, have a personal favorite. The group would not work as well if all 5 didn't do their job perfectly.

I love the contrast between Mitch's flitting around like a hummingbird in the stratosphere while Avi is causing avalanches and rockslides with those rumbling quakes! practically sub-harmonics! My WORD this is a favorite of all time for me! And seeing Scott making sounds I had thought were coming from Kevin... Kirstie and Kevin holding down their parts that are so important for fleshing the whole Avi/Mitch show going on. And Mitch on the floor? 😨 I saw a fan upload of this song being performed elsewhere and they were in the front row.. so it was first-person perspective wgen Mitch hit the floor and appeared to be coming right at me! Eye contact and all! I about threw my tablet while simultaneously trying to back up. 😂 it looked so real! This recording captured fire that night! and I'm also glad you noticed Mitch's run!! 💖 😊 🤸♀️ I was beginning to think I was the only one! So glad you freaked like I still do! I still react to everything going on with this performance and I've watched it over and over again.... and then a few more times for good measure.

😂 I've actually mentioned more than once that everyone should just refer to this video by its other 2 titles based on everyone's reactions "Avi & Mitch KILL IT!!" & "Where's Kevin?" because he was off stage during the intro to put away his cello & then when he came back on stage he just came to the side so Mitch & Scott shifted to center. The person filming just never zoomed back out enough or turned the camera far enough.🤷♀️ Still everyone watches this video because it's the best fan recording of this song @ this concert.

You should also see the video for Aha! and their acting abilities... they were great.
@B3thBakes2 жыл бұрын
(Comment taken from someone else as its explained so well) This is the story behind what you're watching: The previous song featured Kevin's cello, and he was backstage putting the cello away because he was not needed for the choral opening (Christus Factus Est) of Aha. He returned to the stage (not seen on camera) just as Avi hit that low note and started doing the beatboxing. Avi's note, by the way, caused damage to the Star Vista sound system. The person that shot this recorded the entire concert...and it's obvious from this point on thru the rest of the show that Avi had caused damage, so it's not just the mic on the camera. During a break shortly before this, Mitch (who was suffering from jet lag) drank two Red Bulls back-to-back off stage. As the group broke into Aha, Mitch's Red Bulls kicked in. As such, he proceeded to go completely INSANE on stage, as Avi continued to (rather joyously) shred the sound system in the background. And thus we have this, the live performance that most Pentaholics consider to be the best of the group's entire career! And it's made even more legendary by the fact that this fan-shot video is apparently the only recording of it in existence!!

They should sell chin straps with Mitch Aha! Singapore written on them, 'cause everyone sits there with their jaw hanging! From the beautiful choral beginning to Mitch's grin at the end, this is perfection - EXCEPT that Kevin, standing next to Scott for all of Aha! is out of video range, although you can hear all the rattles and whooshes and pounding beats he is doing. The beginning piece was selected by Avi, who sang bass in a classical all male group in college, and studied opera performance. The beautiful harmony of many of their early songs is due at least partly to his composition skills. Great reaction, and I'm looking forward to the next one!
