Yeah, both Matt and Kevin create the foundation necessary to make it feel like a full choir. as well as elevating everything from the melody, the transitions, and multiple layers of depth that always exist in Pentatonix music. Both of their voices are amazing as well, but understandably they cannot take the lead too often because while Mitch, Kirstie, and Scott can often take turns singing, Kevin and Matt already have a full time job with what they do throughout the entirety of the song.

As a woman, I can tell you that Kirstin's choice of beautiful dress was 100% on purpose - including the cleavage! Beautiful women who know they are going to be recorded for posterity would only choose an outfit that they felt made them look exactly how they wanted! It takes a very strong and secure woman to choose that beautiful dress. It shows the world that she is a woman to he reckoned with. She couldnt have chosen anything better!

This video came out at the time that Kirstie was finally really starting to come out of her shell. She had released her successful solo album, had her successful stint on Broadway, and had finally gained all the self-confidence that she had lacked in their earlier career. She had shown some signs along the way that she had this in her...but when that shell finally burst, it burst in a BIG way. Now she's writing her own songs, taking way more leads, and finally allowing herself to be the STAR that Pentaholics always knew she was. It has been a beautiful thing to witness! I'm really looking forward to them touring again so we can see how much further she has grown in the past year.

Key changes/modulations are my favorite part in any song. There's a video of them arranging this on tour, and Scott specifically asked for the third key change. I think he just wanted to hear Mitch sing as high as the stars. 🥰 Let's face it, who wouldn't? Great reaction!

Matt's bass on this song is killer. He's what stands out for me. This is one of my favorite arrangements. The harmonies, 3 key changes, Matt's bass and Mitch's high notes, I mean...🤯❤️! All of their video work is done by an independent L.A. production company called FifGen Films. In a lot of ways, Pentatonix and the FifGen staff have "grown up" together, because FifGen was just getting their start as Pentatonix was staring to become known.

When Pentatonix first started, Kirstin was very self conscious. She wore double sports bras to reduce her figure but over the years she has become more confident in both her singing and in her body image. Very, very good for both our ears and our eyes. (Thank you Kirsty and you Jeffrey).

Okay, so this reaction is a little older. But it’s still new to me! One of the things that really jumped out at me about this song (especially at the end) is just how totally synchronized their entrances and cutoffs are on all their phrasing. And who could miss the ironic word painting at the end when they sang, “in perfect harmony”…. while they were singing in perfect harmony…. that’s just so cool 😊. I, too, sang in a college a capella group and totally understand your appreciation for how Pentatonix achieves their sound and success. As I’ve mentioned before they always give 110% and leave nothing on the table which is why they can engage their listeners so completely. Thanks for the reaction, I’ll be looking at others for Pentatonix ❤

I couldn’t really phonate an E2 but an A2 I could produce sound enough to make a difference. My upper chest voice was probably an F4 and I have a good falsetto but have never measured its range.

I've been a fan of PTX since they were on the Sing-Off. This arrangement is glorious! I'm always impressed with Mitch. How can you not be, lol? To me this was the beginning of Kirstin really pushing herself and putting it out there. Her more recent videos she's really pushing her range and it's beautiful. I'm a new subscriber so I don't know what you have reacted to but make sure you listen to Amazing Grace. A really interesting video is their cover of Gold. It's amazing!

So I'm catching up on your PTX playlist. PTX of course has the most amazing arrangements but this one stands up for it's really incredible use of harmonies, relatively little "lead" singing as compared to other songs. I liked the way they first tapped the two "baritone" voices for a verse, Scott and Matt then did the same thing in the higher register with Kirstie and Mitch. And yeah Mitch was uber-Mitch on this one. And of course, always, they are so respectful of the source material.

You probably won't see this as this recording is two years old but I have been binge watching your PTX reactions. I am very disturbed by one aspect of is that you seem to intentionally never mention Matt. You talk about all of the others' clothes and voices and on and on but you never say Matt's name. Very disturbing for me because I think his voice is outstanding.
