Scott is famous for his riffs and runs: "And I'll pick you up every ti-i-i-i-ime." He's usually listed as "baritone," but he has an incredible range. Mitch is known for his effortless high range. I agree with the folks who suggested "Can You Feel the Love Tonight." Other good goosebump-inducing anthems (like Hallelujah) are Imagine and Amazing Grace. Do please try Daft Punk and Love Again (which is an original). For more showy Kevin (and Matt), try New Rules x Are You That Somebody.

Scott is probably the most versatile member of the group. He’s like a frickin’ shape shifter! He can change his voice for any song…his range is insane! You should check out their evolution videos (Rihana, Beyoncé, Michael Jackson and one of my favorite of theirs…Ariana Grande), they are amazing!

Scott (blonde) is a work horse. He brought the band together and found their original bass and Kevin. He also does a bunch of the arrangements, does a lot of media interviews and promotions, and seems to have a lot of really successful collabs he’s done. Mitch is my ‘favorite’, but what Scott brings is irreplaceable. PTX wouldn’t exist without him.

It's easy to sleep on Scott since he doesn't do the crazy high range that Mitch brings or the sweetness that Kirsti can bring or Matt with his rich, warm base. Scott is more of a utility infielder with his amazing range from coverage the bass line to high range head voice. He brings such a rich, soulful quality (cehck out his vocal on Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get it On" from the 10th performance in The Sing Off competition - it'll blow you away. And I've run out of things to say about KO and Matt...best in the business, no doubt about it.

Scott - ButterScottch colored hair......Mitch with the high pitch. Yes....Kevin is the beatboxer. Kirstie and Matt (the bass) are contributing to backup vocals. Scott and Mitch also sing backup vocals. Kevin seldom actually vocalizes in any given song. Mitch really enjoys EDM. Mitch wrote the song "Anchor" which is very new. He sings the lead. Kevin actually does a fair amount of background vocals when there is no beat needed. It's more evident with songs that have no drum beats. But if you really want to hear Kevin sing you should check out his own youtube channel, Kevin Olusola (KO). His recent videos are more of him singing but his earlier celloboxing stuff is also fantastic. I suggest his original track Renegade (celloboxing), and his 'KOver' of Down (looping masterpiece) to start.

Kirstie is filling the middle of the sound with the backgrounds aahs..Kevin Beatboxer going crazy, and you have to listen to Matt's bass line ..it is Insane. Scott, the blonde, and Mitch (Soprano) are PERFECT for the solo's in this one. Mashed together....Magic, great original by them. Try "Happy Now" (another original) or "Perfect" Scott is great in that one.

You were talking about EDM.. You should love and appreciate their cover of COLOGNE, a Clean Bandit cover. Kevin sounds like an 808 synthesizer in this. They released it during quarantine and It's audio only, which actually helps one appreciate it even more. (Also, you'll hear Kevin plaing cello..) Some other great originals are on a great live concert video called POPSPRING 2016.. It's just under 15 minutes and only one song is not original -their Michael Jackson medley. Another wonderful and fairly new release is their 90's DANCE MEDLEY ..

I suggest you listen to their Bohemian Rhapsody for the group doing great instrumental parts. Also listen to Sound of Silence, Imagine, Daft Punk (won a Grammy), Sing (Original), Havana. Blanking on the name, but a Macklemore and Lewis song is awesome too.

This is from their newer album of originals, in the last couple of years (during lockdown, really) they started playing around a lot more with layering and all the little fun audio tricks. A lot of the things I think they might have been worried about really using before because they built a lot of their reputation of not releasing a song they couldn't also perform live with just their 5 voices. And there are some fans who just can't seem to get past that or understand that growth and evolution is part of being a phenomenal artist/group. All of them are insanely talented and they could all easily have a successful solo career, which is part of what makes PTX so damn good, I think. I think the one you were talking about is Scott (the blond guy), he's very good at blending in and helping the others shine, keep in mind that just because he isn't standing out doesn't mean he isn't doing important work (he tends to take over the bass line when Avi or Matt are singing lead, a good example of this is in Hallelujah and Sound Of Silence, many don't even realise unless it's pointed out though). He's heavily involved in the arranging and was really the one who pulled the group together. Kirstie called him the heart of the group. Scott has lots of moments where he shines though, good solid lead...try covers "Havanna" or "New Rules x Are You That Somebody" or originals Cracked or Natural Disaster. If you want him singing crazy high, then go to Problem, rapping then Can't Hold Us or Ride. For a truly emotion filled performance...Superfruit & friends cover of "Rise" (Superfruit was his and Mitch's side project channel, but Rise is one of the very few serious moments on there), or "Lost On You" which is just Scott (Hoying) and Mario José. And if you want a truly WTF moment...his solo cover "I Should Tell Ya Momma On You". I also recommend checking out their "Evolution of... " series because there's such a mix of songs in the medley. Not sure you'll even read this but figured I'd post anyway on the off-chance.🤷

I don't see how anyone thing's it's "easy" to sleep on Scott, btw it's Scott, not Mitch. I'm a major Mitch fan, he's my favorite, but Scott is a very close Second. If you go through and pick a random selection of popular PTX video's, especially their Melody video's like Michael Jackson, or Ariana Grande.....you get a taste of just how many different textures and ranges and level's Scott has to his voice. He can literally change it to sound like 5 different people in 1 song. And if you watch Superfruit video's Scott's voice changes constantly. I'm still a major Mitchy fan, but Scott is amazing. Many people still don't realize that when the Bass singer is "singing" Scott is covering the Bass. I think you just need to listen to more PTX, they have like 285 video's......you just haven't listened to enough, because this is nothing compared to some of the other stuff they've done. This is an original and their original's are great. But this really seemed more like a Superfruit song than a PTX song, it was major Scott and Mitch. And it's not a love song like some people think, its talking about not letting a friend get down and sink into depression.

Since you like a cappella please check out VoicePlay. They are every bit as good, but a lot of their songs have a theatrical look to them. Their bass Geoff has a 5 octave range and hits subharmonics like Avi does. Their last two, Hoist the Colours and the HALO theme are incredible!!

It's kinda funny that you mentioned having maybe not appreciated Mitch or Scott (still not sure which one you meant!) as you maybe should. I was just thinking of that very same thing a day or so ago, when a new reactor (no, not you) who, about 6 or 8 months ago and having just started reacting to PTX, said something like he felt that Scott really didn't contribute as much to the group like the others did - ie. that Scott was the "weakest link". After seeing the quick and sometimes not-so-nice comments he got for that one by us Pentaholics, he quickly retraced his steps. Lol! The beauty with any acapella group is that there is a time and place for each of them to step forward and shine their brightest. The rest of the time their job is to sing as if the entire group were but one voice. In my listening experience, nobody does that better than PTX. So the times when you maybe don't think one or more of them isn't shining through, go back and watch and listen to the sounds as a whole. I'm sure you will find that they are doing the very difficult job of standing back and totally supporting the one at the lead at that moment - and making it sound not only that there are musical instruments playing, but a lot of times that there are twice as many of them singing as there are!

Also, if you want to be impressed, you should try listening to the vocal master, Kudaibergen. Dimash is from Kazakhstan, can sing in 12 languages, and has an amazing vocal range. I think you will be amazed.
