Huge tip... never listen to an acapella group without headphones...you will miss huge amounts of the performance.
@larrywt6563 жыл бұрын
You refer to them as a "cover group". They may have started out that way, but going all the way back to their very first album they started including original songs on most of their releases. They have done two albums made up entirely of originals, including their latest album The Lucky Ones (released this past February) that is a MASTERPIECE. Some of their best originals include Run To You, Light In The Hallway, Sing!, Can't Sleep Love, Natural Disaster, Cracked, Water, Thank You, and the entire Lucky Ones album.

Avi’s overtone singing, the minor 9th chords at the beginning, the rim shots that Kevin does, all incredible! Avi’s able to sing a 4th ledger-line F#! Mitch, the counter-tenor has not only a fantastic range but his articulation is amazing! This an early video that won them their 1st Grammy! They recorded this in a closet in Avi’s and Kevin’s apartment and recorded the video in their kitchen: and all for $400.00!

Loved your reaction. Hallelujah, Imagine and Bohemian Rhapsody are great classic covers. Can't Hold Us and Problem are popular rap covers. Daft Punk, Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy and Jolene are Grammy Award winning songs. Then they have quite a few original songs. I look forward to seeing more of your reactions. Trust me, the Pentaholics will come.

You’re so sweet thank you! I will definitely do more of these and make them smoother with a bit more practice haha 😂 let me know if you’d like to see any other groups! I’m working on some voice play reactions too

I'm watching this after you have watched the others - I think you need to go back and listen to this with your headphones on. It's really needed on Pentatonix as there is so much going on and so many layers. I find even now listening to their tracks over and over I get to hear things I hadn't previously. It's the gift that keeps on giving.

One important thing if you’re going to be doing an a cappella series is to use headphones. You miss a lot of the great bass if you’re not wearing headphones.

Awesome suggestion! This first video was a test run and now I have a good feel of what to expect an what to do!

To me the most impressive is their flawless transitions from song to song. Seven songs, I believe.

They recorded this in a closet, filmed it in a kitchen for about $400 total, and won a Grammy for it!
@lauriep20183 жыл бұрын
Well they won the Grammy for the arrangement, not the video. But I know what you mean!
@pjschmid22513 жыл бұрын
@@lauriep2018 Yeah but the performance definitely lead to the Grammy. Without this video the arrangement would not have come to the attention of the Grammy committee.

Here is the actual story. Not done for $400 that is just supplies. Please use the story attached. The apartment is the one shared by Avi and Kevin starting out. It is their kitchen and closet. Fifgen Films did the production and editing and they were paid for that. Daft Punk Medley filming etc. strobist.blogspot.com/2013/11/pentatonix-daft-punk-video-low-budget.html?m=1b

@@gailseatonhumbert9199 maybe they’re basing it on the fact that Scott said during his acceptance speech for the Grammy that they DID make it for $400

I know you said you've listened to Avi Kaplan, but maybe you could react to some of his solo work. I agree with the others about headphones. Voiceplay's Bass is Geoff Castellucci. Voctave may also be worth a listen, and Home Free, of course. Not sure is you've done PTX "Gold" yet but that is worth listening to.

A better way to avoid copyright blocks is to put some text over the video. For example for this video I would put: Pentatonix singing/covering Daft Punk (Medley: 7 songs in one) Original Artist Daft Punk You can also make the video 50% transparent with the text over top. We Pentaholics have seen the video 100's if not 1000's of times. Some text over the video is perfectly fine.

It's fun to watch your knowledgeable reactions. This may be your first video reaction, but you're starting out great! In this video, I'm really amazed by Kevin (the beatboxer). For him to quickly and constantly keep up the "instrumentation" in this EDM cover boggles the mind. BTW, he is not wearing blue contacts because they irritated his eyes too much.

I googled "best way to avoid youtube video removal" and didn't see anything that said pausing every 30 seconds was the best way to avoid this. Of course it only takes a small phrasing difference to google different results. I have seen many reactors that pause (some every 10 seconds which is WAY TOO OFTEN) and still get their video's removed. The newest trick being tried is to overlay a pattern over the video or to make it blurry and neither of these is a guarantee the video might not be taken down either. Other reactors claim that by making the video tiny (10% of the screen) they prevent this. In reality nothing you do can guarantee that youtube might not pull the video. It does seem like youtube picks on the reactors that have fewer followers and hits but even reactors that have been doing this for years still get taken down at times. They then petition youtube to get the video restored under the Fair Use Act & policy on youtube and sometimes they get their video restored. My point is that there are hundreds of things you can try to prevent video removal by youtube and NONE of these are 100% effective. I have watched reactions where they do not pause once during the video and these reactors have hundreds of reactions up on youtube. My preferred method is to put a Fair Use Act Disclaimer at the beginning of the video showing the section of the Fair Use Act that applies to commenting and critiquing purposes.

Thanks! I'll have to do a little more homework and play with other editing software as I continue forward with this. I've only had this channel for 2 weeks and am just getting my feet wet trying it out so we will see how this channel develops over time :)

How does KZbin algorithm recognize the Fair Use Act? I mean, wouldn't it just be like any other block of text?

Another thing that reactors do to get around the copyright so they don't have to stop oit every 30 seconds because that can really interfere with the flow of the song comet is they put a filter over the video or they blur the entire thing. Another great reaction

Someone did and I will going forward! I’ll also not pause as frequently in other videos unless I have something to say, you get copyright claimed no matter what in react videos so I may as well have fun with it hahaha

@@thephantomsden8377 Some reactors use a thin filter over the video and that seems to get past those dang blockers. Some just print something over it in large letters like, "Pentatonix a cappella Daft Punk cover." As long as we can see around or through whatever you use, most of us have watched the video dozens of times already, so we can follow along. Good luck! Looking forward to more PTX from you.
