PTX has covered a number of songs in other languages over the years and no, for the most part they don't speak that language so they learn everything phonetically. Other examples: Papaoutai (French), Perfume Medley (Japanese), Pretender (Japanese), Dear My Friend w/Little Glee Monster (Japanese), Despacito (Spanish), Kristus Factus Est (Latin)

And Kevin speaks not just fluent Mandarin but described by the MC on a Chinese show where they were guest performers, ELEGANT even FLOWERY Mandarin. He was an exchange student in China for I think two years.

Pretty sure there's a video of bloopers from this one (I've only watched excerpts in compilations). And the performance by Scott is even more impressive when you know that like 75% of PTX bloopers are Scott forgetting lyrics even in English 😆 Dude's notorious.

Oh, yeah! The outtakes/bloopers from the filming of the outro is a gutbuster! I think it took them a couple dozen takes to get through it without someone cracking up or flubbing a line. One of the funniest things I've seen.

Kevin speaks Mandarin fluently so I'm sure he helped Scott. But they do Papaoutai, French and a French reactor said it was amazing and right on. So I'm sure as perfect as PTX is, they got it right! Avi was singing the undertones in the intro. which is a real treat. There is a video of him live singing in undertones clear to a whistle! Amazing talent!

There's 1 thing you need to know about PTX. They Never do anything Half Ass or Incorrect. So, of course what scott is singing in Korean is exactly How it is..... Watch papachoui. They sing the entire song in French. Scott Is the Lead on that 1 also

They have stated in the past that they hired a coach to teach them how to sing the songs in the language they are singing. Also please, please check out the bloopers video for this. They could not stop laughing to do the ending. It is sooooo funny.

Scott & Mitch like kpop a lot so were already familiar with listening to how it's pronounced, but no one in the group really knows Korean. (As others said, Kevin is pretty fluent in Mandarin Chinese. Also Kirstie speaks Spanish.) I read that when they do languages they don't speak for a PTX cover, the members usually get a language tutor (or maybe one of those language tutoring apps) for a bit to work on correct pronunciation of the lyrics so they can memorize them. Like before they did Papaoutai Scott spent a lot of time with a French tutor.
