Welcome to PTX. If you react to a few of their songs (300+) the Pentaholics will find you and watch your channel GROW. Fair warning: Pentatonix's music label tend to get blocked, but don't worry the Pentaholics will guide you through the copyright process. We tend to know their songs and want to watch new people discover Pentatonix. We can always watch their Official Video on our phones and your reaction on a computer. Kevin (Celloboxing) has an arrangement of "O Come All Ye Faithfull" that will make you forget the original song. He also has his own 15-20 minutes during their concerts called, "Kevin's 5th" and Matt joins him for parts of it. Amazing Grace will touch you. Goosebumps are common for any of their songs.

Girl!!!! Welcome to the world of Pentatonix!!! You are in for a wonderful journey. They are a 3 time Grammy winning A Capella singing band. (No instruments.) Although they do have a cello from time to time. Kevin plays wonderfully. He is also their beat boxer. It's hard to remember that there are no instruments when you hear his percussion. So realistic. I would recommend that you react to their version of Seal's "Kiss From A Rose 🌹 " next. This is a live performance and is possibly their best performance to date. It has Matt, a new member since Avi left, in it. You will be so blown away. It is epic!!! Has a surprise in it. You will love it. All of their songs are amazing. Not a bad one in the bunch. My personal favorite is "O Holy Night". That one makes me cry every time. Pure beauty. The talent these 5 individuals have is unbelievable. Great reaction!! New subscriber here for more PTX!! ( PTX is short for Pentatonix) Hope you are doing well. Sending you love from Texas ❤❤❤!!

This song is their greatest, in my opinion, but they have so many more! My top favorite covers are Say Something, Radioactive, and Little Drummer Boy. They won Grammys for Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and Daft Punk. Of their original songs, I love Misbehavin' and Be My Eyes. I love them and so will you!

Pentatonix a "brief" background. They won The Sing Off in 2011. They made a guest starring appearance on America′s Got Talent as non−competitors a couple of years after that. The founding members are:- Scott Hoying (tall blond guy, natural baritone but has an impressive five−to−six octave range, can go all the way up to high tenor and down to bass, sings the bass lines when the usual bass singer takes the lead); Kirstin "Kirstie" (Rhymes with "Thirsty") Maldonado (the only female member, natural mezzo soprano, but can go down to low alto and as high as upper soprano, also can sing in whistle notes that are off the scale); For a time in 2018 between the group’s tours, had the female lead on Broadway in the production of “Kinky Boots”. Mitch Grassi (a true contra−tenor, can hit high notes in his chest voice with ease and go WAY higher in his falsetto, also with ease); Avriel "Avi" Kaplan (dark beard and long hair), true basso profundo, trained as an opera singer, also can go up into the tenor range; and Kevin "KO" Olusola (beatboxer extraordinaire, also is a world−class cellist who plays cello on some of their songs, has a beautiful high tenor voice and gets occasional lead vocal solos as well, graduated pre−med from Yale and speaks several languages including Mandarin Chinese). Kirstie, Scott & Mitch grew up together in Arlington, Texas, and began performing together as children in local youth musical theater. They ended up in high school together and performed in the choir. While there, they formed an a cappella group called The Trio which had several performance videos go viral on KZbin, most notably a cover of Lady Gaga′s "Telephone". The three of them are best friends and consider themselves to be almost siblings. Scott & Kirstie (who were a class year ahead of Mitch) both graduated high school in 2010 and went their separate ways to different colleges, Scott at USC and Kirstie at Oklahoma. While at USC, Scott joined a USC−based a cappella group called the SoCal VoCals, where he met alumnus Ben Bram, who was now an arranger and vocal coach for the NBC TV show The Sing Off, an a cappella competition show. Ben convinced Scott to get The Trio to audition for the show. The three reunited (Mitch had to skip high school graduation ceremonies to go) in Los Angeles for the audition. They found out that the rules had changed, so they needed at least five members to audition. Ben put them together with Avi (a native of Visalia, California), who he knew from Avi′s performing days at Mount San Antonio College in California. They found Kevin (from Kentucky) through one of his KZbin videos that had gone viral featuring him playing the cello and beatboxing at the same time, a talent that Kevin coined as "Cello−Boxing". Kevin arrived in Los Angeles literally the day before the audition! Scott came up with the name "Pentatonix" after the pentatonic scale. They performed a re−arrangement of "The Telephone" for the audition and passed, despite having been together as a five−piece group for less that 24 hours! They won The Sing Off that season (all of the performances are available on KZbin), in which they received a substantial cash prize AND a record contract with Epic Records. They pooled their prize winnings together and all moved to Los Angeles, and all got apartments right next door to each other in the same building. But just a week later, Epic dropped them because the marketing people didn′t think an a cappella group could sell records. Instead of giving up, they were determined and began recording their own songs on KZbin, hiring Ben Bram as their producer and arranger. These usually consisted of the five of them sitting on a couch and performing cover songs live. Several of the videos went viral, and Sony (the parent company of Epic) decided to give them another chance by placing them on one of their smaller labels, Madison Gate. They released two secular EPs and one Christmas EP on Madison Gate, all of which were strong sellers. But when their cover of a medley of songs by Daft Punk not only went super−viral, but also won them their first Grammy, they were promoted all the way up to RCA Records, Sony′s top label. They began writing and producing their own songs in addition to their covers, began putting out a Christmas album just about annually (which has become their best−selling genre), and have had multi−platinum album sales, sold−out world tours, and have won two additional Grammys. Avi began getting burned out with all of the touring and heavy recording schedule, was suffering from anxiety and personal problems, and learned that his mother had been diagnosed with cancer in 2017. He announced he was departing from the group and taking some time away from the music industry. Matt Sallee (from Baltimore) joined them in September 2017. He did only become official when they renewed their RCA contract in February 2018, but he recorded with them in September as a featured artist and went on their Christmas tour as a featured artist, as well. When he attended the audition for the group, he had already mastered the Bass part for most if not all their past catalogue. He was successful and has proved that he fits in well with the group. If you think there have been other changes to the line up - look again. This is the ONLY change. Kirstie and Mitch are like chameleons and change looks frequently. It is an often debated subject among the Pentaholics as to just how soon we introduce the "Beginners Guide" as we don't want to overdo the introduction. This is a compilation of snips of a whole load of songs which PTX have released. It highlights each member with some of their solos and then a brief history in video. It is quite long - 14+ minutes and is a little dated now (Feb 2020) but is a good watch kzbin.info/www/bejne/onXbepmtm6igh6c&pp=ygUdYmVnaW5uZXJzIGd1aWRlIHRvIHBlbnRhdG9uaXg%3D. After a year away from music, Avi has now returned as a phenomenal solo artist in the Folk/Americana/Roots genre. Ben Bram has been in charge of their production, including arranging and directing from the beginning. He is often referred to as the sixth member. Scott and Kevin are major players in the arrangements, but every member contributes. A good watch is "The Recording of Evergreen" where a camera was invited into the studio for the second week of recording. Also, all members are songwriters for both Pentatonix and their own solo work. Ed Boyer who mixes everything of theirs (even the HWB Livestream) is the one who pulled Ben Bram into the sing off in the first place. They have Grammy wins for Daft Punk Medley, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, and Jolene featuring Dolly Parton. They were nominated for a 4th Grammy for their album Evergreen, but didn't win. Another nomination for Holidays Around the World album in the 2024 list! Kirstie became a new mum which caused a pause in touring after their Evergreen Christmas tour 2021. Mid March 2023 Kirstie has announced that she is engaged to Ben Hausdorff, their videographer. They married 22/04/24! Not clear how the future is to follow, but Kirstie has announced that she is expecting number 2 in early 2025. Not critical to the groups touring schedule, but Scott, Kevin and Matt are all married. Kevin and Matt with children. They have a star on the Hollywood walk of fame installed in February 2023. They are the only a capella group with a star! They came 3rd in the 2023 Masked Singer performing as "California Rolls" being unmasked in May 23. 2024 they have anounced a change of record label. Lets see where that leads. Things you need to know because if you get these wrong Pentaholics will come after you with pitch forks and torches! Ha Ha!! 1- There is NO Auto-Tune; what you hear is actually what they sing. They really are that good. One exception is the 90's Dance Medley where Cher used autotune as an effect - so they had to. 2- What produces everything that you hear in the video, you see in the official video. If there is an instrument used in the music, you see it on screen. In the 2022 Christmas album, there are some instruments not featured throughout the album. 3- They never release something on video they can’t reproduce with the exact same quality live on-stage. 4. It is "Pentatonix" there is no "The".

Subscribed for more Pentatonix (PTX). No instruments were harmed in this video. PTX is the gold standard for a cappella music. 90% of their music is pure a cappella, while the rest has light instrumentation, usually Kevin’s (beatboxer) cello. Recommend their Grammy winning Daft Punk (medley).

Leonard Cohen wrote between 80 and 180 versions of the song. So performers can select which verses mean more to them or convey the message they are trying to impart. That might be why it sounds religious when one person performs it or not if another does. Different versions of the song.

OMG OMG OMG!! I love this - I found you through Harry Potter and loved it and now you're reacting to my favorite group!!! I am so here for it. You are going to love them!! Please please do more of these guys they are amazing! You mentioned blocks - I will say, that while PTX loves reactors, their company is very harsh sometimes on SME claims. Some advice should you go react to more you might encounter a lot of claims but from what I have seen of other reactors you can kind of mitigate it by pausing LOTS - that gives you some time to talk about it as well, also making the video more opaque, also perhaps putting words over top of the video to further obscure software recognition can help as well. Just be sure when you pause to rewind like 10 seconds or so to get back into the swing of the music and not miss anything. I loved the heartfelt reaction, I'm right with ya girl! You are about to go down an amazing rabbit hole and I am so excited to see it! I recommend their covers 'Imagine' (Be sure to get the version with the white signs you'll find out why - also bring tissues for that one), 'Daft Punk', 'Evolution of Music'...well any of the Evolutions are awesome, 'Sound of Silence', and if you want to hear them live, I suggest looking up 'Popspring 2016' 3 out of 4 songs are original (Cracked, Can't Sleep Love, and Water) These guys are primarily Acapella - they have used instruments in some songs but you will usually see the instrument in the video if they do encorporate one. Everything else is done through the human voice/beat boxing and they are so so so talented and wonderful! Members: Scott- the first blonde singer - sings baritone but when either Matt/Avi are singing, he will cover the bass line Kirstin- (Pronounced Ker-stin or Ker-stee like Thirsty) Mezzo Soprano and all around belting power house. Is the shortest and always wears boots or something to compensate and loves to change her look often! Mitch- Contra Tenor...very high male singer and absolutely fabulous! Sassy, a brat, and a vocal powerhouse. That stunned expression upon hearing Mitch's high notes, us pentaholics call, 'The Mitch Slap' Avi- Former bass of the group, does a lot of solo americana/folk stuff now I think? Also worth listening to Kevin- Beatboxer and Tenor, he does a lot of body percussion. He's fluent in Mandarin, and prior to joining Pentatonix for the Sing Off competition, was studying to become a Doctor. He's got a side channel as well which I highly recommend - he's amazing. He also plays Cello. Matt- The newest and only change in the roster. Does Bass but can also do a high Baritone as well. He replaced Avi when Avi left the group. His smiles are like warm sunlight

I - It's great to have you back! You've just stepped through the doorway into the magical world of "a cappella" singing -- no instruments, just voices and vocal percussion (beat boxing.) Instrument-free singers have been around since music began, but since the dawn of recording technology, two types of a cappella groups stand out: barbershop quartets and "doo wop" groups (beginning in the 1950s.) In this century, the popularity of a cappella singing is growing steadily, thanks to three groups (Pentatonix, Home Free, and VoicePlay) and three movies: "Pitch Perfect" 1, 2, and 3. In order to continue exploring this amazing form of music, try Home Free's cover of "Man of Constant Sorrow" ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5bakJWce9ulpdU ) and VoicePlay's "Little Mermaid Medley" ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/sHu5mYl8h9Chirc ). If you can find a copy of the original "Pitch Perfect" movie (2012), watch that, too!

India, you are not the first reactor to break down emotionally listening to Pentatonix perform this song and you won’t be the last. This song does not have 764 million views for nothing. As a rabid Pentaholic myself I do not claim they are the “best” a Capella group, however, I DO claim they are the most popular (popularity and technical/evocative skills are not the same thing, there are some other excellent technical a Capella groups (VoicePlay, Home Free). Still Pentatonix is my favorite, they just seem to hit some spot in me the others do not. For another of theirs with emotions along these lines I suggest “The Prayer” or “Amazing Grace”. For something more upbeat and fun try “90s Dance Medley”, “Daft Punk” or even a rap cover, “Can’t Hold Us”. I have Liked and Subscribed and look forward to more of your Pentatonix reacitons ❤

Girl, you have _no idea_ the rabbit hole you have fallen into. They have released over 200 songs in 13 years. If you do listen to more, don't get confused that there are and have always been only five members at a time in the group and only one member has been replaced. Avi (pronounced ahh-vee) the guy with the beard, left the group and was replaced by Matt, a black guy with an amazing gospel voice. The other three have always been a part of the group, but the girl (Kirstin) and especially the guy with the high voice (Mitch) have changed their looks many times over the years, confusing some people to think other members have been replaced. Traditionally, the next songs that fans (Pentaholics) ask for are: * "The Sound of Silence" (features all of their voices including the new guy, Matt) * "Daft Punk" (electronic sound, they won a Grammy for it) * "Bohemian Rhapsody" * various "Evolution of..." songs: Music/Ariana Grande/ Michael Jackson/Rihanna/Beyoncé * "The Prayer" and "Amazing Grace" (obvious reason) Welcome to the PTX family!
