A few things to notice about this video: The couch is here to pay homage to the many couches they've used as a staple in a ton of their early works. Kevin's vocals at the beginning of the song fill up sound, providing an autotune-like quality. In some performances, Mitch does the guitar riffing without the megaphone and sounds practically the same. Kirstie's balance in those heels on that couch is praiseworthy. In this song, Avi displays his ability to do vocal acrobatics during the "I see a little silhouette of a man..." section and shift from his upper register to his lower register so swiftly that it seems as though someone else sang in his stead, but it was still him. great reaction!! I loved it!! Pretty sure Pentatonix is full of aliens and use their songs as a way to let the others here know their kind around.

She stands on the couch in the platform heels but, if you carefully watch the camera cuts, I'm pretty sure she wasn't wearing them when she made the leap. Clip 1: she peels away screen right behind the others. Cut to clip 2: shows her running toward the couch but doesn't show her feet. Cut to clip 3: very brief view of their feet while she runs screen right in front of the couch (less than a second). Cut to clip 4 she makes the leap onto the couch but nothing shows below mid thigh. Cut to clip 5: she's standing still on the couch wearing the heels. Nothing shows her wearing the heels while leaping and nothing shows her turning about 120 degrees to face the camera. It was good choreography and camera work and a really smart safety move. With the heels, if she'd missed her mark by half an inch, been too slow or too fast she'd have broken an ankle. They rented the street for 8 hours from 10PM to 6AM to film this and used every minute. So they had the time to do it safely. Besides, be honest. You weren't watching her feet; you were watching her gorgeous legs. In 1 or 2 scenes you can see the sky starting to lighten behind and to the right.

Their are so many dimensions to Pentatonix that it's easy to get lost. However, I divide their professional life into three eras: 1) The early life and education of the trio, their coming together as Pentatonix, their amazing growth as they went through the Sing-Off, Season 3 competition and their tough first year, after the record company dumped them and they did all the couch videos, posting their videos on you tube, through to Daft Punk, their Grammy-winning breakout video. 2) The Avi Period, more or less the five great years of their first world tours and albums, the Christmas albums and specials, through to their album of original songs: Can't Sleep Love, Sing, New Year's Day, Rose Gold, Water... all fabulous! 3) then the break-up, when Avi left them, the two heartrending videos in which they were "Quadratonix," Away in the Manger, and Dancing on my own, which you have gotta hear and see to believe, and finally, the Matt Sallee years, which are a bit awkward at first, but they have faith, and persevere, and now the slightly altered, but still brilliant, buffed and polished sound of the new fav five, Pentatonix as we know them today, in which they are once again, masters of the universe of music, and they unbelievably, just continue to improve upon perfection. It's an epic journey, and each era has tons of supplemental, interesting videos to study, to expand your understanding, and to enjoy, such as good recordings of actual concerts, and How we made it, behind the scene videos. Happy exploring!

Great reaction to an incredible performance. If you want to get technical, the most telling part of the whole song is the coda at the very end, specifically the final note that Mitch sings. He holds that note while the chord resolves. As the chord changes, he is tuning the note to keep the chord sounding alive. That modulation is down to 1/64th of a tone. You really have to listen carefully to hear it.

Kirsten and Scott sound great with their supporting harmonies while Mitch solos. The instrumentals are also amazing. The megaphone is just s prop. He doesn't use it in live performances. My dad was a WWII flyboy, who, in the early fifties, worked as a navigator in a DC3 airplane that did the island hop from SF to Honolulu to Midway to Saipan to Okinawa to Tokyo, because the plane could only go about 500 miles before having to stop to refuel. In the middle of the night, somewhere between Midway and Saipan, they were followed by a bright and shining ship that appeared to be about the size of their airship, or a bit bigger. Their radio abruptly cut out, and for about ten minutes or so, the brilliant cigar shaped craft slowly flew 360 degrees around them, at their speed, then took off and away at what my father said must have been 2000 miles per hour. They were flying freight for the troops in Japan, it was just the five crew, but they decided among themselves, not to report it. My dad said, he knows what he saw was real, it happened, but he still found it hard to understand or explain, and he remained incredulous. So, heck yeah! There's something out there, but what and why? He didn't know and neither do I.

it is highly improbable that we are the only planet with intelligent life in the universe. I always enjoy your insightful reactions and always look forward to the next. Your opening questions always intrigues me and usually stirs the mind with possible pragmatic philosophical thoughts. I apologize beforehand about delving deeper into the questions that I ponder from a broader perspective than you probably intended. This question here can by most people's standards, be pared down to a simple yes or no answer but my answer actually reshapes your question from a much more broader perspective. Do I believe in aliens that paints a picture of human interpretations of exactly what an alien is? If your question is whether believing in some form of life that would actually leave their extraterrestrial home and arrive on ours, the answer is No. But do I believe that there is some form of alien Life (not specifically formed... like in our imaginations) on places in the Universe other than Earth, the answer is Yes. Carry on Young Man...
@SuffiReax
@SuffiReax 3 жыл бұрын
First off, thank you for your kind words, I really appreciate that and I am always glad to hear when someone enjoys the questions! Secondly, no need to apologize for "delving deeper", I always enjoy others thoughts! Whether we agree or disagree, hearing other points of views are always beneficial. If I only ever heard my own, how could I grow and learn and change. I like that you look past the simplicity of the "yes or no" style that I formatted it and truly thought about it more deeply in terms of defining what is meant by "alien". After all immigrants are referred to as aliens and that surely is not what I meant haha. Similarly to you, I don't believe that there is intelligent life (such as ourselves or greater), life that is capable of traveling in some spaceship like we see in movies and visiting earth. But I do believe that there is "life" out there, some form of an organism that is alive, I can believe that. Just not a whole other race or species of creatures living out there. But those are just my thoughts. Thank you for your comment and for participating!!

Actually ..in 6:25 , well , in Avi's solo is just Avi doing the lower singing , he goes from high/mid(?) to low ..but in Hallelujah ,The Sound Of Silence and other videos Scott sings the bass ..but he doesn't in this one , their voices while doing the bass part sounds very different and Avi is a Basso Profundo i think , or something like that ...at least that's what i can hear , i hear he is the one doing the lower singing , i think i know Avi's voice enough to say that but i'm not 100% sure ..and his facial expressions can say much too when he sings , just like when Kirstin sings higher , she kinda smiles while singing high ...that's just one example...i'm just saying so you can also notice this kind of details later in others covers from them , just as other have explained you which one is doing this or that 😊💜

I'm warming to your reactions now. My cursor is very close to that red button!!! There is a side by side video of this to show how close they got to the original. (I understand they were reluctant to take this on). Worth a listen, even if you don't react. As far as your question goes..... you just listened to 5 of them!!!!

Do I think aliens exist? Yes. Do I think they've ever been here? No. Thinking we humans are alone in the universe is the height of arrogance. Fun reaction. I love the look on people's faces when Mitch hits that guitar solo.

Now that you enjoy PTX you should dive into Home Free. If you love bass Home Free has one of the best, lowest, most versatile ever. They won the Sing Off, acapella singing competition the year after PTX did. All men so that makes for a different dynamic. Man of Constant Sorrow is where a lot of people start, but they also did Ring of Fire with Avi. There are also many live recordings of their sing off performances and concerts so you can compare live to produced. Home Free also has a two time world champion beat boxer who can make you think he swallowed drums cymbals and harmonicas.

Great reaction again to this amazing group. I have to say that I love their cover of Bohemian Rhapsody better than the original by Queen which I will probably be booed for. I don’t even miss the instruments in the PTX version because Kevin does such an awesome job of bringing those to life. I also like the variety of using all the voices as leads, the layering, and the harmonies which are superior to the original. Freddie Mercury is an amazing singer as well, but this version rocks it for me.

I was reading the comments in your PTX reactions to see if someone mentioned Home Free. and I know it's a PTX video but I was wondering if you want to check them out? Like PTX, they won the 4th season of Sing Off. Avi was even featured in their Ring of Fire video (but personally, I like the Sing Off performance better, that I also think you should check out) Home Free is a COUNTRY acapella group so their sounds is different from PTX but just as amazing. another acapella you should check is Voiceplay, they are more theatrical and their Aca Top 10 videos are fun to watch.

With the number of stars in a galaxy and the number of galaxies in the universe it would be a big waste of space if we are alone but then the distances involved are insanely large so the possibility of meeting is very low. Just off radio and TV signals that leak out fewer then 1,000 stars would know we are here and the more distance covered the harder a signal is to pickup in the background noise. If we have been visited already they are on our tree of life or have completely alien DNA as nothing not related has ever popped up in the mass testing done.

Do aliens exist? Isaac Asimov was famous for his science fiction but he also wrote popular science non-fiction books in which he explained complex scientific principles, translating them into language which the layman could understand. In 1979 he wrote one called "Extraterrestrial Civilizations". Using the knowledge available at the time, he did a statistical analysis of all of the factors involving the formation of stellar and planetary bodies that could provide the conditions that would allow the development of life which could evolve to the level of sophistication that would produce a technological civilisation. I still have my copy. He also took into account the age of the universe which allows for such civilisations to have evolved and become extinct before our planet even existed. We've only been around for a relatively short time on our planet, even just comparing us to the dinosaurs and we still have plenty of time to become extinct through our own actions or some extinction-level event such as killed the dinosaurs. The number he came up with was roughly 530,000 in our galaxy alone and we are just one galaxy in a galactic cluster of which there are an unknown number scattered throughout the universe. So I believe that aliens exist but given the limits imposed by the laws of physics as we currently understand them, the likelihood of ever making contact, far less meeting them here or elsewhere would appear to be vanishingly small. I still like that SETI exists because even vanishingly small is not impossible and chance still has a part to play. Also there are Mitch Grassi and Dimash Kudaibergen to consider, who didn't exist in Asimov's time and might well have skewed the results.

Thank you very much for your thought out backstory and answer to the question. I appreciate the reasoning and the work you have done to come to your conclusion! Which is one of the reasons for my questions. I have opinions and beliefs, but I enjoy hearing others and why they have theirs. I know that many of mine are wrong, but until I hear others, I wouldn't know anything else. So thank you for kindly explaining what you believe and why :)

You are the only reactor I've seen who has specifically given Avi props for his bass lines in the segment Scott does lead on. Thank you! A lot of Avi's parts in BoRhap show off his opera training in college (he was an opera major and theory/composition minor, and was trained as a Basso Profundo). You definitely need to react to his solo work. The typical first watch is "Change on the Rise", his original song released in March 2019. He has lots of others, not all with videos. (Most of his solo work shows his vocal range beautifully, but if you want to check out an original piece that.really highlights his lower register, check out this live acoustic version of "Chains" - kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXzMYYqbiLerrKc

There are trillion, and trillions, and trillions of star in this universe. To think Earth is the only planet to have intelligent life is extremely egotistical. I believe there is extra terrestrial creatures out there. They would have to be super, super, super intelligent to figure out how to travel the extremely vast distances between stars on one's life time. Could any government keep such proof of the existence of extra terrestrial life a secret for decades???
