Guys, I’ve watched this video several times & it’s still one of my favorites. Everything was perfect! The model, the clothes, the color palette at the location, everything. Great shots guys. I love both of these cameras & lenses.

4:39 the extra character of the Pentax's 105 shines in that comparison. Gotta love that 67.

For film I've got the mamiya 645pro w/80mm f1.9, the mat124g TLR, and then for 35mm I've got the nikon f2 & f100, Olympus om1 om2 and omG, Canon ae1 program. Plus my instant cameras. I love my cameras and film. I won't lie I'm set on getting the rb67 and Pentax 6x7 at some point.

I have a 67 and a Blad. Both are fun. I think the Pentax shines for landscapes and the Blad for portraits.

Rb67 is cheaper. That’s one good tip. Getting a 67 in good shape in the states is kinda hard without paying premium. Mamiya is really nice for portraits. I still have yet to take portraits with my 67. Video was fire guys. Been wanting to make vids like these. Keep it going. Sending good vibes from California

Two of my favorite cameras but sadly only one is still with me as the Pentax 6X7 gave up the ghost and hopefully one day I will purchase another Pentax 67 in the future! Love the portrait session! Great looking results too! Keep it up! Your IG is killing it!

Had the RB67 for a while and I loved the modular appeal of it but I struggle to nail focus with it. I wear varifocal glasses so it caused me a few isses looking into the chimney. I bought a view finder prism but being a landscape photographer this added so much weight to an already weighty system that I thought It'd change to a Pentax 6x7. I swapped it with someone wanting an RB and find it really suits my shooting style with it being more SLR like. The thing is weighty but because it works better i don't feel so bad lugging it around. I do miss the swapping of film backs though!

Very cool I have a rz67 pro ii. with 110mm Can you tell me one thing: The complete diferent colours in same objects is the edition on scaning or after? (because the two have portra 400 in same hour of the day) It is the diferent camera and lens that make the photos of the pentax with so more saturation? Thanks Great work.

RB67 lens was sharper? Or is it just me??
@jeremygarretson5482 Жыл бұрын
There's absolutely no way you'd pick up on that in a KZbin video. Human error would be easier to spot.

Pro - Pentax 67 is more portable like you said. Con - the minimal focusing distance close up isn't as close as I would like to get with portraits. Pro for RB67 is that you can get closer to your subject than the Pentax 67 with the 105 f/2.4.

Mamiya RB67 should have 110mm f/2.8 to match 105mm 2.4 would be so cool to see 😊. Awesome video

great video, were these two rolls processed and scanned the same way? It just looks like the Pentax was flatter-looking with soft rolloff of the highlights and the Mamiya the colors were harder. Thanks!

The pentax is easier to handle and the 1/1000 shutter gives you 1 stop more flexibility shooting outdoors before having to reach for an ND filter.

Good work! Would be interested to know if you noticed any difference in the rendering of colour between the two lenses. (Would make an interesting comparison to shoot a Macbeth card side by side, same time, same location same lighting etc as part of a test like this.) I have a Rolleiflex 2.8F and a Rollei 6008i with 50, 60, 80 and 120 mm lenses.
@AndrewLowphoto4 жыл бұрын
Ahh that would be interesting! I feel like the mamiya renders slightly different, has an older feel to it which sounds mad but then again I really enjoy that, I honestly couldn't pick which one I like more but I'd away more to the mamiya just because it has a different feel to it but the 105 lens on Pentax is unmatched

Best? In 6x7s you failed to mention the Mamiya 7, or 7II, which have some of the world's best glass.

Avoid the awkward focus at close distances with the 2.4 wide open. Stop twisting the focus ring and lean forward and back a bit while looking at the eye. Faster and easier for me..

Oddly, the Pentax shots consistently run over exposed compared to the RB or video auto exposure. I have the Pentax 6x7 with prism meter, and it's not prone to this error, so I have to suspect that our boy is a secret follower of the "always shoot at half box speed" YT cult.

I enjoyed your comparison. However, for a fair comparison, you should have used identicl focal lengths. Even though 105mm and 90mm are both considered normal focal lengths, using a 105mm on the Pentax and a 90mm on the Mamiya was not a good choice.Using a 90 on both cameras would have been a better choice. Also, using normal focal lengths for shooting full-length portraits is fine. However, for comparing head & shoulder portraits, you should have used telephoto lenses with identical focal lengths instead. A 150mm lens on both cameras would have been better for comparing how the cameras handled head & shoulder portraits.

I don't recomment film. Fujifilm GFS series or Hasselblad X cameras are incredibly superior to these old relics.
