Coming from Lindsay's channel to check out which mechanical pencils you recommend for arthritic hands (wrist tendonitis in my case). You touched on precisely the reason I dislike the famous Graphgear mechanical pencils. Rough, painful grip. Also, they're way too heavy. I believe they are really built for men's hands, from the days when architects were mostly men. Most of the favorable reviews say things like "I like the sturdiness and how heavy it is." I can't for the life of me imagine why you'd want to use a super-heavy pencil for hours, but apparently that's what feels comfortable to people with large hands... Pencil weight is so important that it's the first thing I check when shopping. I love the Jetpens site, because you can filter by weight. Saves a lot of time and money :) I'm surprised you like the Sharp. I love how light it is, but the ridged body left terrible indentations on my fingers.

Thanks for letting us know about how hard some pencils are on artists hands it helps allot. I wonder is someone made custom 3d printed grips/top parts for the pentel graphgear pencils. I know there is custom 3d printed body's for the pentel sharp pencils made by a youtuber called cowabunga pencil time.

P20X(Sharp) for sketching +PG52X(GG500) for lining, is the perfect combo. You hurt yourself because metal knurled pencils are meant to be held very lightly and glide along rulers or stencils for technical drawing. They're fantastic for lining if you let their own weight mark down on the paper, but for long sketching sessions you will cramp.

I've bought a 0.3 mm Sharp recently; I haven't used it much, but it already left a very good impression on me. Even though I prefer Rotring 300 to it, as Rotring 300 is even lighter and has a matte finish that I find much nicer to touch, I do consider Sharp a brilliant pencil for its price range and I will definitely recommend it to anyone who prefers thinner pencils. As long as you can find it for an adequate price, of course - the one I've bought seems to be the last one sold brand new in my city (if not my entire country), and the prices of the ones I found in online marketplaces like eBay are rather expensive for this sort of pencil. Before I forgot - Sharp's mechanism can be easily removed through the back of the pencil's body after you unscrew the front piece. Its mechanism is actually nearly identical to the one found in Pentel Orenz, with only a few millimeters of length difference.

While I don't like the Sharp 200 series body that much, cause I'm used to the PG series and other vintage Pentel bodies, the mechanism Is great, very good quality. A hack a lot of people do is buying one of those generic Chinese metal pencils from AliExpress and replace the mechanism with the Sharp 200. So it basically becomes a Sharp 200 with a metal body and knurling. A lot of people in the States also make their own custom metal bodies with a lathe, lots of these small custom pencil makers also use the Sharp 200 for the mechanism

Where do I buy the GraphGear 5000? Is it only sold in Japan?
