Hey, great video and thanks for sharing. I had a question about stem cuttings; I received peonies in a bouquet and decided to try propagating them before they died, so I cut a hard stem cutting , about 6 inches long, with only one set of leaves which were trimmed half way, dipped them in hormone powder and placed them in a glass of water in an attempt to root. The cuttings were cut on an angle, directly underneath a node. They have remained alive for a couple days now, but do I have any chance of them actually rooting? Thanks in advance!

Perhaps try it with rooting hormone powder

Yes. And the seeds from the bloom just keep the whole flower. It’s easier to use a piece of the root though

i moved homes...and had to transplant my 4yr old peonies in the spring (i know its better to do it in the fall)...now it has bud blast and some black wilted leaves/stems...do u think it is do to stress of moving or is it infected and i have to destroy the plant...? thanks for your help!
@DollfaceKim7 жыл бұрын
neoncandy20 no, do not destroy the plant. Trim it down, reduce the stress on it's immune system by pruning bad parts off and check your soils ph. Sounds more like too much acid in your soil.

Thank ,I have a 8 plants peonies really expensive purchase and planted 2016 but not blooming jet a was transplanted 3 weeks a go ,different spot , how can I do , preciate anything of you comment.
@ArtByKarenEHaley6 жыл бұрын
Eleticia Viana peonies undergo a couple years of dormancy after being transplanted. They need full sun to grow well. They like a really good fertile soil too. Give them a year or two before you start to see blooms. Patience with peonies is key for the first couple of years. Be sure the plants' "eyes" (areas where new shoots will appear) are not buried too deeply, or they will only grow leaves and no flowers. You should have only an inch or two of soil on top of the root system. You mentioned you moved them this year... Transplanting them again will probably extend the dormancy period by another year. They need time to build a strong root system, which they do their first year after being planted. The following year you may see some blooms, and the third year your plants should be nice and big with a fair amount of flowers. You may want to fertilize them this spring if you haven't already. Good luck! If you spent a fair amount of money on your plants I'm guessing you've got yourself some beautiful varieties.
