They made this video, and with Software Engineers, I have read that there are now too many Software Engineers and not enough jobs. A lot of new "Software Engineers" I have read are not finding work. I am not in Tech so not sure how true all of this is, but just what I've read.

There is a great need for good software engineers who can do more than just write code. People with people skills, project management skills, and the willingness to learn the business are in great demand for software engineering positions. Script monkeys who know how write software when they’re told what to write are a dime a dozen, and they’re the ones who can’t find jobs easily.

@@tscoffwhat if I have all of the above but my coding skills suck? I just finished a cybersecurity bootcamp and it seems now the focus has to be on selling myself because I have no actual coding workplace experience.

@@DEBTFREEMIKE769 It’s hard to get started. Some companies hire software engineers/developers like you with little or no experience. Vista Equity is a Private Equity firm that does that. Every company owned by them does the same thing. Some companies only hire senior level employees. Netflix is a company that does that, and I don’t think I’m a good enough developer to be hired by Netflix! And other companies hire both beginners and experienced programmers. It’s hard, but you need to apply to every job opening that you can find. Sooner or later you’ll get a job. It’s a numbers game, the more applications you send out the sooner you’ll be interviewed and the sooner you’ll find a job using your new skills. Even though we don’t like to admit it, every single one of us who’s experienced was where you are today. And it was rough for most of us!

From what I've seen and lived there are a lot of jobs out there for the grabbing but they're just not true entry level jobs.

We are so desperate for these employees that we will pay them the same as the slackers.

Tell me how to make 250k? I have a degree in Electrical engineering, masters in electrical engineering, MBA in organizational leadership, 15 years experience, just left government work and started at a large tech company? The issue is I've now joined another institution and this institution has rules and laws that limits people from growing fast. Only way I can increase my income is to hop around it seems like even though I enjoy my work now.
@tscoff4 ай бұрын
That’s nothing new. It’s been that way for decades. If you want a good pay raise you need to be promoted or find a new job at another company.

Might be time to pivot that experience into it's own business.

The problem is the compies who higher big tech are highering People in India so they can pay them less. I know this for a fact because both my husband and my son work in the computer industry. The only reason my husband still has a job is because of his knowledge from doing this for the pas 30 years, but the lower entry level jobs are all People in India. My husband will be kicked out the door in a heartbeat if his employer thinks they can replace him with a worker that is in another country. My son has a job because he works for a defense contractor and thankfully they can't higher people who are not American citizens for top-secret jobs. We have a big problem when our US companies dont higher American citizens.

What AI certificates or programs would you all suggest for accounting/finance professionals? For instance, I'm currently in entry-level back office accounting and considering financial certification (Certified Public Account [CPA], Certified Financial Planner [CFP]). I'm planning to learn Power BI for data analysis and to automate processes, and wasn't sure if I'm missing out on something bigger and better.

I love this!!! Praise the Lord for Bethel Tech. Thank you Ken for featuring Ryan.
@chrisdorman-c5r8 күн бұрын
Ryan and Ken "repeated" the word "tech" a lot. And that word is very vague, and is often used by those who have not taken a science or math course since high school. When Ryan gave the example of the construction worker, he did not say which employer. Ryan emphasized that is a Christian school, and that part of the 15 week course for $5000 is about teaching character. Well, employers have a fundamental requirement that their employees do not lie, steal or cheat. There seem to be no prerequisites for these courses, nothing in mathematics. Don't they seem to be emphasizing a form of a get rich quick scheme, that someone can go through just 4 months of training, and be earning the same level of money as someone with a 4 year bachelor's degree? Wouldn't others like more detail, like the names of companies that hired graduates of this school, and are earning $75,000 after 4-6 months of training?

This doesn't align with what is actually happening in the market. It is difficult to get a tech job these days without an H1-B visa. Salaries are indexed by what a visa holder with fabricated "experience" will accept which drives down the market. There is often a claim that there is a shortage of qualified candidates which is not true.
