smple amity No they don't. Morisette's performance doesn't justify any better performance than Sohyang. She is great but her chestmix register is fragile as well as her headvoice which she barely use. Sohyang outstands Mori in terms of techniques. Mori uses whistle which is a disconnected register, very different from Sohyang and she made several vocal breaks in performance in Korea. However, she is an amazing singer just not a great technician like Sohyang.

With this video i don't to spread hate, on the contrary I just want to show you that there are some amateurs, and even famous singers that love Sohyang and want to sing one of her songs. Some of them are funny because even if they try to hit high notes, they know to not be able to do that; others, instead, did great even if sohyang did better of course cause of her support up to C6. So i dont want comments that spread hate towards sohyang or filipinos or common people in the video, but i just want your opinion about if they fail or not. People keep forgetting the fact that So Hyang's Bb5's are not impressive just because it is a Bb5 but it is impressive because she hits those notes with her chest voice wheras all the other artists try to hit the same note flip into their mix or head... So Hyang using her chest makes it sound even more massive and enormous rather than her head voice which would take away the intensity...

Fyi, So Hyang's Bb5 is a mix tone as well. However, her mix voice is so balanced which means her chest voice ratio is balanced as that of her head voice. That's why her high notes always sound powerful because her technique of mixing is just perfection. She can easily control how she wants to sound, she can give a powerful mix as well as a soft heavenly heady mix,she can simply switches gears and do anything with her voice (she's a master). Meanwhile most of people out there who reached up to Bb5 and above will likely sound heady bcs their mix voice are head-dominant bcs obviously it's hard to pull much of your chest voice up to there (except for queen So Hyang tho). Not to forget, her Bb5 is resonant and well-supported indicating her amazing technique which explains why she always hits those notes effortlessly and ain't straining..

Other singers are having a hard time singing Sohyang's song because it's her arrangement. The keys used are suited for her vocal type. But if it's the other way around, like for example her "I believe I can fly", then she will not sound too great because the key is lower than her range. Singers all have strengths and weaknesses. And since Sohyang's strength is her upper belt, it's most likely that her lower range is underdeveloped. Same goes to the other singers who's singing are not perfect. I like Sohyang but you fans should be humbled that other singers are covering her arrangement of the songs because it only means that she is being recognized. Don't go around saying bad things about the other singers and be like "the knows it all" with the high larynx, straining, unsupported bla bla shit like that because I am certain that 90% of the people here can't do what the other singers did with their take of Sohyang's arrangement.

Brian 10 first of all, I've saying this to a lot of people multiple times but Sohyang's lower register is NOT underdeveloped. Sure she doesn't have that much ease when reaching lower but she can support & resonate down to G3, at some days to F#3/F3 as well. For a soprano, that's above average already. For a soprano WITH high tessitura like her who can support & resonate C#6 in mixed voice & E6 in head voice? That's GREAT enough. You need to take all of these into context & consideration. Second, just bcuz people pointing out their technique & saying that they're not on the same level as her & etc, doesn't mean they're dragging them down, rather they stating a fact bcuz really, almost no contemporary singers existed these days can match the skills she owned. It serves as a proof that she's a legend, unusual, one of the kind & untouchable. & for me, it's actually rather a foolish move to actually attempt Sohyang's original rendition? I mean I'm happy they admired & looked up to her but why forced yourself singing to a such high level when not all people have such a high tessitura like her? & lastly, I really have a problem with your last paragraph. Let's say, in order for someone who have studied vocal pedagogy & technique to analyze Mariah Carey, they need to have insane agility & whistle skill like her eventho they've studied everything about human's voice & singing technique already? Not saying eveyone who gave critiques in here are all experts but I just found your logic is very flawed.

Assuming they've studied about human voices, etc. How can they give critiques if they can't even sing? Knowing about something is different from experiencing the process of singing. No matter how well you know all of those singing terminologies, if you're not even capable of singing then don't go around trying to be a musical genius. Singing isn't as easy as how people with no ability to sing sees it. Heck, you even need to adjust the placement of your voice depending on the demand of the song. And not just that, you need to develop a good voice quality or tone. Analyzing a singer's voice like those singers in the video for me, is only only justifiable if the critiques are singers as well. Imagine Sohyang singing the original key of "I have nothing". I don't think she will be able to do it with power compared to her arrangement of the song. You're actually the one who's flawed. You don't see your idol's singing weakness. You want her to be so perfect, right? xD Well, all I can say is that whenever Sohyang's on her comfortable range, her voice is super powerful and at ease. But if the range of the song is lower, her pharyngeal/nasal technique shows. I have singing idols too, but I know they're not perfect.

So Hyang had already mastered her own voice, she's in control of her singing. It's not the song that's taking the lead, but her. So Hyang is very skillful and well-trained, I somehow wanna learn more about Asia's Song Bird - Regine Velasquez's capable of reaching notes and technique since she's been trained in a risky way, as well. A queen in her prime.

People need to realise that just cause your hitting the note it doesn’t sound good they need to stay within their tessitura. Only reason that sohyang sounds good is that she has a higher tessitura paired with great technique. Someone with an amazing technique like Lara Fabian knows the limits to her voice which is why she doesn’t sing outside of her tessitura

Imagine Raptr I totally agree with you! But I believe that in the world of vocals anybody can choose to be everything. Take for example Sohyang who is a Full-Lyric Soprano. Now in her next album will concentrate specifically on her low notes, which proves that she is crossing her boundaries. In conclusion, the music industry doesn't have limits. It's depends on the person; how far are you willingly to take this? And Sohyang is the answer.
