Wizards fan here: this is the final nail in the coffin from Tommy Sheppard’s dull incompetence, and we just gotta move on. The return’s not great, but our new GM has been the #2 under Sam Presti with OKC and I trust him to draft well. Finally a new era and rebuild time after waiting my entire life for it.

As a Pacers fan, Ayton is one of the least wanted players for us. We absolutely DO NOT want him! He's been terrible while Myles had a career year and arguably for the first time in hjs career is playing the role he's meant to play, while the Pacers arguably has some of the best chemistry of any team. Everyone gets along, never any drama, everyone does what they're told to do and there's no ego. Ayton would throw a wrench in all of that just while also downgrading our center position. Really the only thing we'd get out of it is that he's a couple of years younger.

It’s funny how Casey comes up with so many Myles Turner trades. Pacers will never ever agree to trade Turner for Ayton (even less with McConnell included). They signed the offer sheet last offseason because they could have gotten Ayton “for free”, but that’s really it. There is no need to start a new Center project in Indy
@kenny-my1db
@kenny-my1db Жыл бұрын
Yeah i agree with you. That's an L trade by AM Hoops. Myles Turner alone is worth more than Ayton. Better defender and he can knock down the 3. Only reason he isn't an all star is cause he was playing behind Sabonis for so long. I'm not even a Pacers fan but it's pretty obvious that's a bad trade.

Suns literally replaced CP3 with Beal without giving up much of anything. And people keep saying "depth" but they only lost 1 player anyway. Teams only play max 8 guys during the playoffs so it shouldn't matter much. Suns are not focusing on getting a good seed, they are focusing on winning the chip. Not that they will, but that's their focus, unlike the majority of the fans would think to "fill out the roster". That's not their approach.

The Suns need to improve their bench. They struggle during the playoffs and had to relay on Booker and KD to score most of the points. Yes, they added Beal but like it’s literally the three top scorers, Ayton, Cam Payne and the rest of the roster is determined on who they sign. Like they need a PG because neither Booker or Beal can’t play at that position. Also they brought a coach who’s mindset is defence.

Booker played PG a lot last year and Beal also played pretty good as PG while John Wall wasn't playing. Also, you don't need a "fixed PG" nowadays. What people don't understand about the trade is that the Suns basically have known they want to trade Ayton. And they knew they could get a few depth pieces for him, Chris Paul being old now and declining, was a huge problem...they literally got rid of that problem as far as them not getting back something for him...but then tada the Beal trade. It was very smart by the Suns to take advantage of having KD and Booker to convince Beal. It was a great trade. They were never going to get anything good elsewhere for CP3

That's a stretch. People and the media love the underdog stories so imo they actually prefer the story lines where the team without the star wins. but nuggets wasnt that. it was clear that they are the total favorite at every step against each team they played. Toronto basically had no star when they won, Kawhi certainly wasnt a Bron or even Kyrie type of star player then. Milwaukee had Giannis and the rest are good role players but not star. Media didnt hate that at all. Also, media is who votes the MVP and they voted for Jokic twice by a majority.

Little and Nurkic actually isn't that bad. Little is an up-and-coming 3-&-D wing currently under the radar, a perfect fit for the Suns' needs. 3-&-D wings are the hardest to find in today's league and Nas Little is a diamond in the rough. Nurkic has been expanding his range, so he could provide the spacing that Ayton doesn't. With KD and Book getting so much attention, some extra spacing could be helpful. Nurkic admittedly doesn't do much but rebound on defense, but Biyombo has been very good on D in his time with the Suns, and he could easily absorb more minutes. Also finding a different cheap free agent center who can defend, screen, and dunk off the roll might not be too difficult, if Biyombo isn't their guy.

That is a GREAT starting 5, Payne will shine playing as a true PG. They can & WILL get free agents too, there's a million quality free agents out there. Idk how these "experts" don't see how much of a STEAL this is of a trade. Even if they do not trade Ayton, this is very likely the 2nd best team in the West, fighting for #1.

I think you're wrong. The primary reason the Wizards didn't get more for Beal isn't "because he had a no trade clause". It's obviously because Beal makes too much money for most teams to even think about adding him to their roster. Beal's a player any team would love to have, but to take on the 200+ Million remaining on a contract, most teams would want a player who is younger or has well proven that they're capable of carrying a winning franchise, especially with the new CBA looming.

Folks that have real relationships with NBA organizations don't even know what their final roster will look like nor the path to get there. Yes, they currently lack depth/defense. Depth would be an issue for any team with only 8 players currently under contract. You argue that KD is old/on the decline, Beal's contract being an issue down the road, and then chastise Ishbia for being impatient. Ishbia doesn't appear to be worried about what's going to happen 3-4 years down the road. The window of opportunity is now and is already narrow, time is of the essence.

i put data from raptor and epm into Chatgpt and asked it what type of player the suns should get : it cuts of 2021 so i jsut asked for exaple players and why: Certainly, given the current NBA landscape (as of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021), here are some examples of players who might fit the Suns' needs: Offensive Contributor: Karl-Anthony Towns: Known for his offensive versatility as a center, Towns could provide scoring, shooting, and playmaking from the center position. His defensive impact has been a subject of debate, but his offensive contributions could significantly enhance the Suns' performance. Bradley Beal: If the Suns are looking for more perimeter scoring, Beal is one of the top shooting guards in the league when it comes to offensive production. His ability to score in bunches could take some pressure off Booker and Durant. Defensive Big Man: Myles Turner: Known for his shot-blocking abilities, Turner would add a solid defensive presence in the paint. In addition, he can also spread the floor on offense with his three-point shooting. Rudy Gobert: Known as one of the best defensive players in the NBA, Gobert's presence would significantly bolster the Suns' interior defense. However, his limited offensive game might not fit the Suns' need for more scoring. Better Bench Performance: Derrick Rose: Rose has had success leading the second unit with the New York Knicks, providing scoring and playmaking off the bench. Joe Ingles: Known for his solid play on both ends of the court, Ingles could provide a boost to the Suns' bench. His playmaking, scoring ability, and solid defense could be beneficial in a bench role.

02:30 Did you really say he doesn't pout when things don't go his way? Really? As a life long Wizards/Bullets fan, who has seen probably 90% of Bradley Beals CAREER games with us, I can confidently tell you...THAT'S ALL HE DOES!!!! Every shot missed, cries for a fouls/doesn't get back on defense. Every coaches decision that goes against his...pouts. Every time he didn't get the ball at the end of the game when he wanted his iso chance which consistently led to him single handily throwing the game away...POUTS! And I guarantee most Wizards fans feel the same way. That said. I also guarantee he will be a much better team player on the Suns then he was on the Wizards. He knows he isn't the alpha on that team. He wont want to look like a failure, so he will do his best to support KD and Book. BUT, he cant stay healthy, his outside shot has become inconsistent, and he is way to turnover prone for a SG. Its doomed to fail.

Having watched Ayton for years, he is very good, closing in on stud status with his potential among the top 5 Suns Centers, but he is mentally soft. Maybe age and a change in scenery will help, but these create major issues when the Suns needed him most. He is not small, in good shape, but gets tossed around like a doll with other bigs. The Durant trade last year did not have time to cure and you saw fluidity issues, yet they still were the most competitive against the Nuggets, and had Ayton stepped up, could have taken the Championship.

A good analysis. It would, however, been insightful also to look at the new rules on the luxury tax for salaries. If I remember correctly, it’s going to be impossible to have three large contracts on one team. That is, you can only have two players who make more than $40 million/year. If this starts in ‘24, which I think it does, than the Suns have one year to win a championship with these three players. In other words, the new rule on luxury tax means that one of the players, of the three, has to be traded at the start of the ‘24 season.
