That surveying instrument is also called an alidade. In this case a telescope alidade. It was used with a table that was leveled on the horizontal and oriented on a north/south axis to construct maps of an area or similar surveying tasks. Many years ago I used one to build up maps of agricultural fields and features of note such as wetlands, buildings, trees, etc. You could make an accurate map in a short amount of time if you knew what you were doing.

As a retired surveyor, I began in the 60's using old instruments like this ! It's called a Clinometer ( from "Inclinometer"), and also used as an alidade when Plane Table Surveying.

As a site engineer I was quite used to having an upside down image . Then I got a new Japanese level . It had another lens giving a right side up image . Was I confused !! Somebody told me new born babies see things upside down 😊

Last object looks like the antenna part of a radiosonde, used with an equipment package, attached to a parachute and large weather ballon. Tracks wind speed temperature, and humidity at each altitude, until the balloon bursts, used, by your local meteorological office..

The object at 6:00 is also known as a cresset. I've seen them in use at places like Colonial Williamsburg. From Wikipedia : A cresset is a metal cup or basket, often mounted to or suspended from a pole, containing oil, pitch, a rope steeped in rosin or something flammable. They are burned as a light or beacon.

Comment on the commercial at the beginning of this video for Guggenheim scissors. OK, but I can top THAT. I have my grandmother's Wiss scissors. She bought those before I was born in 1952. I have them in my drawer, and I can cut silk, leather, anything with them. They are STILL sharp as razors! 75 year old scissors! Top THAT! The only thing sharper is a lightsaber!

Correct! It is the antenna portion of a weather radiosonde that would transmit data back to the station about temperature, humidity, altitude, and such.

Snafu is a military acryonym for “Situation Normal - All ‘Fouled’ Up.” It was 1 of 2 forest fire crew camps in the late 1950s.

The last object is an attention getter, if it is raining maybe a light will go on, or it'll zap a bug, my guess is a measuring device for sap sugar content or flow, no frikken idea but I loves weird whatcha-macallets, that's a good one and we're puzzled and hoping one day somebody figures it.
