People making videos about the revitalization of Detroit ignoring that its just Gentrification and never showing Rouge Park, Chene Ferry Market, the Packard Plant or the vast plowed down houses or boarded up houses. Don't make Slopaganda. Potholes in Michigan can be fixed. There has been permeable technology for decades but the Blue Politicians will not require bids to include it. Instead they require union workers who don't know how to pave roads for the freeze/thaw nature of our land. I think it was in 1975 when Detroit experimented on I 75 Northbound between 8 and 9 mile or 7 and 8 mile. They paved 200yd sections of highway using techniques from other countries. I think a total of 7 different types. The German 12 inch thick with 3 layers of rebar held up the best and was still in pristine condition after the trial. It was destroyed and no one remembers it. One man in around 2000 came up with a way to reuse tires to make a hexagonal sheet with pea gravel that would allow for freeze/thaw, would last 10x longer and be quieter. Nothing came of it. We mispronounce everything in Michigan. We have a lot of French names including Detroit, Gratiot, Cadieux, then we have more and more like Newburgh, Hamtramck, and my favorite Gyro. Seriously, when people visit we look like morons pronouncing things so wrong.

Born and raised here in West Michigan. This past Summer i once overheard a conversation from someone visiting telling someone else that there are no lakes in Michigan, I was truly in great disbelief, as much as i wanted to say how truly wrong they were, i kept quiet and laughed. We laughed and continued our conversation, but the Michigan/Ohio line in the sand is real beyond just sports :)

As a 64 year Michigander, I can tell you we DON'T like our roads. Nobody likes driving through a pothole laden road and we don't take any pride in blowing a tire. It's embarrassing when traveling through other states or Canada and enjoying nice roads. On the other hand, the Michigan U turn is ingenious. I was visiting my kid in Cali and it was terrifying to drive their roads with him making legal U turns in intersections!

This promised explanation did not disappoint!💙🩵 Never throw your Vernors! 🤯 Like any good Michigander, I've been chilling on the front porch, sipping mine and watching the storm roll over us until yesterday, when it was plenty warm enough to shovel snow in a t-shirt! I'd like to add a #11- people who don't live here telling us it's "weird and dangerous" to sit on our front porch and watch storms. We all know you don't head to the basement unless an actual funnel cloud is spotted! They just don't get it. And a two views #12 - I hate outsiders dismissing our beautiful UP as just a bunch of forests with little to do there, but I like it because we can enjoy our hidden treasures with less traffic!

I like how you handled, the contentious Detroit issue. I grew up in Detroit in it's hayday. And for a number of reasons the city collapsed. And in a number of instances the residents, said enough of this, and turn things around. The best example of this is the devils nights fires before Halloween were rampant, residents start taking up patrols ,and they put a stop to that. Along with neighborhood watches. And good people with money . Really the new fathers of the city ,started putting money into it ,and started building up the downtown. It's a city that is turning itself around. Thank you, for touching on that.

My old boyfriend, born and raised in Michigan, used to insist on pronouncing Ypsilanti as Yip-silanti. I should have known then we weren’t destined to be together. I can't WAIT to get back home where I belong. Funny thing that happened here a few years ago in the grocery store. A group of older teen boys were looking at the apples, which all the bags said grown in Michigan. One commented "They can't grow apples in Michigan, it's too cold there!" I said, "Son, I was born and raised there, and yes, you can grow apples there, along with a whole lot of other fruits and vegetables, too. Our state flower is the apple blossom. Leading producer of cherries. We have a blueberry festival every year. It's not winter there year round, we do get summer temps in the 80s on the regular. So yes, it's warm enough there to grow apples." His friends ribbed him pretty hard for his ignorance. I just felt sorry for him for not knowing better.

As a Michigander who has lived out of State for 23 years, I take issue with you calling that hot dog shown at 5:54 a "coney dog," that is clearly an Ohio CHILI dog! No self-respecting Coney Island would serve a coney with beans in the coney sauce. We are also much more than Pasties, Vernors and Coney dogs. You forgot Faygo, Towne Club, Better Made, Sanders, Zukins, Hot N Now, Speeds, PizzaPapalis, Cornwell Turkey Farm, Mikes Famous, Zehnders, Meijer Thrifty Acres, Zingermans, Cottage Inn, Kowalski, Eastern Market, Xochimilco, and the list goes on and on...., if you don't know, now you know! Oh and I HATE when people ask "where are the "Wolverines?," DUH! Clearly they are ALL housed in Schembechler Hall, except when they are unleashed to roam the Big House! Also, you can't pick on Sparty, unless you were born here. They will always be little bro, but they are OUR little bro!

The only thing wrong with Michigan right now is the current administration. When that changes things will improve dramatically like we will now experience on national scale.

Okay, so I'm from Marquette can you use your hand map to show me where I live? Dude you literally mentioned the U P when talking about the Toledo Michigan battle but then completely disregard us when talking about the Michigan map. 😂

I hate when non Michiganders visit (and even some Michiganders) complain about our bottle deposit rules. Take a walk along the shoulder of a country road, in a state without a bottle deposit, and you'll find tons of cans and bottles littering the way. You won't see that along the country roads here in Michigan.

If you think about it, how often do Michigan and Ohio State fans get hyped up about a anything but a football game between the two? Whereas, when it comes to the other sports, such as basketball or hockey, the biggest rivalry seems to be MSU vs. Michigan. For either school, it's always gratifying to beat Ohio State, but it's especially fun to beat the other instate Big 10 school even in tennis.
