I can see that "people mode" vastly simplifies the task of recognising who is who in pictures, and having this information associated with the images. But once I have done that, how can I use it (other than in "people mode"). Can I, for example, find all images containing person X, sorted by date? Or all images containing person X *AND* Y etc?

I have been waiting this for ages. Finally it here. Suggestion for 2022: Please don't stop here. Like Picasa, you can make a video based on faces. Example I can make video from Budihardjo (my friend name as in program), since he was a baby till now almost 40th. Next step: perhaps 2023: Photo recognition. Competitor has been has it in a few years ago with smart tag. If a photo contain fire, then it add fire in the tag. A photo can recognize contain / about many thing / person. So a photo can get a lot of tag. I can combine like search Budihardjo and guitar. It show Budihardjo face and also those photo that contain guitar in the tag. The tag is auto generated by ADCSee. Thank you.

What I'm missing in this section is the complete lack of reference to the actual image, it's name, where it's located. No option to show in folder, on disk, etc. What if I don't know the names, but they are in the filename and I need to name lots of them? Right now it looks like I have to go back and forth per face to figure out the name, or have the folders open in explorer and find them there. It's giving me consumer app in all aspects, the way it's designed: a great feature that will blow people's minds categorizing family photos, but a pro who doesn't know the names of it's subjects in the photos can't use this feature comfortably. And there are SO many places to add reference info about the file.. so so many :)

This is really good feedback. So you can navigate back to the original image by clicking to View mode, and then manage mode, but yeah, I agree, the location data should be more prevalent. Dually noted, I'll pass this feedback onto the Devs.

I really like this feature but is there no way in People mode to find where the photo is located on your computer? I've got hundreds of family photos which this mode has helpfully organised but it would be handy if I could double click on the photo or something for it to then take me to the folder in Manage mode.

I have been experimenting with "people mode" and find it very useful. The video explains things well, thank you. But something fundamental that I am missing is: how do I tell the tool which folders it should look in to identify faces? Ideally i would like it to do this for my entire file hierarchy. I can understand that that would take some time, but would like to start the process. How do I do that?
@tshavfengvang78312 жыл бұрын
I also find this "People mode" feature to be extremely useful, especially if you have large amount of photos which need to be organize in unique folders. To do this task manually is undaunting and very time consuming. You can do a sort but will only work if you have pre-named the files appropriately in the first place. I'm sure with the facial recognition technology, you can turn this feature on to categorize your photos provided that you have defined all the names you want the A.I. to group them according to their names. The A.I. should auto this process for you. No point in developing an artificial intelligent software engine when you still have to do all the work and taking aspirins at the same time.

I’m having a couple of problems with People mode in Ultimate 2022. First, I can’t find the ‘People’ folder. Where is it usually kept. Second, I’m having problems accessing more than just a couple of folders. Every time I hit the ‘People’ button it just shows the same one or two folders, not my whole catalog.

Hi, great tutorial - I just got my copy of ACDSee Pro 2023, just for this feature, but I do not see the grouping of the pictures as you've shown by how many of the same person the program has detected - Please let me know if I am missing a setting or do I need to call support - Also, how ACDSee handle thousands of images? in my case I pointed to the top-level folder as my starting point, and ACDSee show all subfolders, I then clicked on the People icon then Grouped and only saw about 200 pictures collectively (what happened to the rest?) please let me know what am I missing, Thanks!

I'm happy to see improvements on the automatic naming feature. It's a huge benefit to help locate photos of a particular person. I'm using Ultimate 2019 and I have done some naming. If I upgrade to Ultimate 2022, will the current names be preserved? Is there something special I need to do in order to preserve the names? Also, I would LOVE to see this functionality be extended to pets, at least dogs and cats. While it might take a lot to distinguish two yellow labs from each other, for example, it should be relatively easy to distinguish a German Shepherd from a Shih Tzu. Lastly, I would like to see the ability to name someone when ACDSee doesn't recognize it as a face. For example, my 2019 version doesn't recognize a person when the face is partially in profile. Perhaps the newer version has been improved.

Can I add more information about a person than just the name? Sometimes, I know the context of a person, like "friend from school". This would be helpful when trying to find pictures for one person.

You'd have to add that information in manage mode using metadata likely. Currently there are no additional fields for input in people mode.

How can I "force" ACDSee to re-scan all my folders trying to recognize faces?
@@ACDSeePhotoStudio Sorry if I was not clear: I know how to trigger from the menu. My issue is how to rerun on a complete folder-tree (making all subfolders scanned). When I rerun the recognition, it picks up only some of the directories, being cca 1000 out of 40.000 pictures identified with faces during 3 days.

So if the Metadata is embedded, will we be able to use the same info in a network? I mean if photos are archived in a network drive, could the network users access the same metadata when using ACDSee software?

Yes, ACDSee metadata (and face data) can be embedded in images stored on network drives, and also imported from images on network drives When embedding, there is an option for embedding on network drives, which should be enabled by default

@@ACDSeePhotoStudio I wish I had known about embedding before I upgraded and discovered/thought I had to reimput all my facial recognition. I purchased ACDsee for this feature only but it does not work properly. ideally like in my iphone, I would want it to scan all my photos, but it has barely scanned a few dozen pics with faces in 5 days. its also not clear how to make it scan all the folders. I was able to better organize my photos and videos with windows explorer itself. wasted 39 bucks on this BS software.

So if the Metadata is embedded, then that means it is permanently in the photo file? And can be seen by other programs? Unless you change it.
@ACDSeePhotoStudio3 жыл бұрын
Not quite Peter. Embedded ACDSee Metadata (including face data) is embedded for the purpose of reconstructing in a situation where older databases cannot be converted to the most recent product. It acts as a failsafe so things like keywords, faces, labels etc. can be gathered from the files themselves. ACDSee Metadata is really only viewable in ACDSee as it's a proprietary function. I would argue that it's good to get into the habit of embedding ACDSee metadata provided you use things like face data, labels etc. However: IPTC and EXIF are universal metadata fields that can be viewed by other programs.
