For reference! Copperhead bites are very rarely lethal, even if you aren't treated by antivenom. Home remedies won't help with it, though. It's possible to have an allergic reaction to the bite (like with a beesting) but in general, as long as the bite isn't on your neck or something like that usually recovery is easy without a trip to the hospital. But also I don't trust the people in these facebook groups to be able to properly identify a copperhead (especially since they have a similar looking cousin, the Cottonmouth, which is highly venomous). Unless you're well-versed in snake identification, go to the hospital if you believe you've been bitten by a venomous snake! Just a note from your neighborhood friendly aspiring herpetologist!

the difference is the US’s slavery was recent, and the descendants of the victims are still suffering from it because of intergenerational trauma from the systematic racist ideology that was never abolished from the country. + you could even ( and i do ) argue that slavery still exists in the US, just in a legal form. when slavery was abolished, it specified that slavery could still happen to people in prison legally. tie that into the US having the largest prison population in the world, the school to prison pipeline and prison labour and you have an entire slave market happening completely legally.
