I miss the discus tank and the bass tank. But change is always happening at OFR. Clearly Mrs Josh edited this video, awesome job.

That's actually not bad Josh you could do that for while then re-home them and then do another species tank, it would make great content like you said ❤😁😁.

That's always the plan... rescue, educate, rehome.
@brln4 Жыл бұрын
@@joshpriceofr I agree. I know your oscars tend to be re-homed quickly. Would you consider a showcase/education tank with different oscars? There is so much about them I don't know, and you're an excellent teacher!

It can happen as long as it’s a big enough tank and 1000g is definitely big enough, if I had a big enough tank that would be almost my dream tank as South American cichlids are some of my favs

Josh ever heard of the Rio Grande cichlid? A fisherman just caught (and released) one from the San Antonio River here in San Antonio, Texas. It made the news down here. Seems they aren’t usually seen in our river but sometimes one pops up. I got excited seeing the fine ones in your Chiclid tank!

Absolutely beautiful 1,000 gallon Cichlids tank! One of these days hope to have a 200 gallon Discus tank buy not at my present location because when we move I will have to break it down. This is a major undertaking and disturbs the fish.

The nicest top 3 south American cichlids are 1. Rio Mag Umbee 2. Red Terrors 3.Dovii I've been looking for a nice male red terror for about 2 years now, not kidding I have a beautiful female but these guys are rare

I did something like this with an 80 gal. I had a picture of it with everybody out front that I put up at the pet store I worked at and every non-fish customer that saw it thought it was a saltwater tank because of how hard they were all pushing their colors out. It was a who's who of Centrals; three or four different Vieja, a Manny, Motie, a Jack, Green and Red Terror, regular Texas, Salvini, Red Devil; non-cichlids were three Clown loaches, Tiger Datnoid, Ornate Bichir, a Leparinas Fasciatus, and a Distichodus Sexafasciatus. Sounds like a lot, and a couple of them were pretty small, but most of them weren't. I just kept them stuffed and did massive (40-50%) water changes probably four days a week, bare bottom with sponge filters w/power heads, and re-arranged the driftwood every water change so nobody ever got territory established. That was close to 20 years ago though, I miss them sometimes.

Maybe a little more structure places for them to hide. Especially adding more fish with attitudes.

Salvini and dempseys... and of course, no New Qoeld Cichlid predator tank is complete without convicts. I have angels in my 210 with an oscar and a pike and a dempsey and a salvini and a convict and a green texas. The only fish I've had to move is the jaguar. He quit playing nice about 3 years in.

Whomever says adding that many fish to a 1k tank is impossible, is not a smart person. Jamming as many cichlids is always the tried and true method for dealing with aggression.

This will spill into the discussion of a dovii and an umbrella can't be in the same tank. I did it for 2 years in the past. Will likely do it again in this tank. All is possible juat cool content to put out

Of course, most of those fish are Central American fish and if you were dealing with wild caught fish, Central Americans have different water requirements than South American fish. The pike and the peacock are probably wild fish, the others probably aren't.
@dazellis8057 Жыл бұрын
That pike will bully all newcomers as it already has a territory best to do a rescape when adding a bunch more cichlids so they all get the chance to claim some territory
