Not all plastic surgeries are due to mental illness, but I think that a couple of these qualify. It's truly heartbreaking that people want to go to extremes to feel beautiful or attractive.

What I don't understand is this obsession with being something else. Like the black girl who bleaches her skin or the white girl who tans for hours a day. There are so many people out there who are attracted to someone who looks different than themselves so just look for them.

I was thinking that this is what happens when people with extreme delusions and other possible psychological issues have money to burn...or at least credit card debt up the wazoo. I mean, I don't want to judge, my overall philosophy in life is that people should do what makes them happy so long as no one is getting hurt by it, but will this make them happy in the long run? Aren't they hurting themselves by having all this surgery? In 20 years, are they going to dive deeper in debt to reverse the procedures in order to look 'normal'? Or are they going to go further and further down the rabbit hole (no pun intended for the Jessica Rabbit lady) and surgery themselves to death or until they have permanent (unintended) disfigurement that can no longer be repaired or altered?

Even if they have some sort of mental illness, so what? Different people cope with life differently than other people. It's a little bit weird, but if it's not hurting anyone, then why should we care?

@@user89076 They're hurting themselves and the obsession is clearly interfering with their lives... Body dysmorphia is a treatable condition that's on the same spectrum as OCD; so they probably have some sort of deep anxiety that is only alleviated by trying to look a certain way. The thing is about OCD and related disorders is that no matter what they do the relief is only temporary and they still suffer from anxiety, so it's an endlessly repeating cycle. The key to recovering from an anxiety disorder is to learn positive long-term coping mechanisms. Saying these people just have a different coping mechanism is like saying someone with OCD is just coping differently. Sorry but it doesn't work that way.

psst... just to let you know the human barbie also uses tons of make up on her face to look like Barbie, you can look up pictures of her (Valeria Lukyanova) with little to no makeup and compare them to when she is fully decked out to look like Barbie she only claims to have had breast enlargement and the rest is natural. I am not sure if I believe that entirely, but I do think that most of her face is natural and at least half of the rest of her body is natural, but definitely not as much as you might think I suggest reading her wiki page, it is incredibly interesting

@@TravestyJunction lol! did you see my other comment... it is so much longer... *Long statement below so the TLDR is=* I hate misinformation and not mentioning the other side (for here it would be her side that the only plastic surgery she got done is breast enlargement), especially when it leads to people judging her a lot for reasons that may not be true, like I did. The reason I know so much about this is because I hate misinformation being spread so I did look up some of this right before making this comment, but also I did see a video a while back watching her taking off all of her Barbie makeup after going to the gym and MAN WAS IT IMPRESSIVE! Before I saw it I thought it was all plastic surgery and that it was baloney that she never got work done on her face. Now I know I am wrong, I admit it, so I just don't want more gossip being spread unless they have AT LEAST mentioned that most of her face to make her look like Barbie IS IN FACT makeup. Sadly I cannot find the dang video, or at least one from a source that is not some random outlying news/journalism site or gossip, clickbait site (like one Matt uses as a source). But there are still a bunch of selfies of her recently with FAR less Barbie makeup recently as she is trying to distance herself from being the Human Barbie.

As a small bonus, there is a guy that made himself looking like Trunks. Our favorite purple haired sayian of DBZ. Now before you start thinking his got surgeries, he actually didn't. After seeing the character, he made it his goal to get in shape to have a bodybuild of the character. He loves the show and changed his lifestyle. Even getting a trainer to help him work out and going on a high protein balanced diet. They say obsession is bad, but for him, I couldn't be happier for him and his life style. He goes to conventions as Trunks and many people have loved meeting him. I'm happy to say he earned his title as Trunks 😊💜
