Independent documentary about Zapatista movement and autonomy of Mexican indigenous people (Russia-Mexico, 2016)
In 1994, a group of armed insurgents emerged from Mexican Lacandon junggle. They claimed their revolt was a move of desperation, an attempt to reveal the miserable living conditions of local indigenous population. Armed conflict lasted just several days, but the fight is still going on.
Twenty years after the insurgency thousands of indigenous people participate in civil Zapatista movement, which opposes all existing governments. In the most remote part of Mexico they are building "another world" - self-sufficient alternative society, autonomous and independent from traditional institutions.
At the same time Zapatistas create vast solidarity networks, that include sympathizers among local population as well as volunteers of non-governmental organizations from all over the globe.

This is the most advanced form of government in the world. If they had the economic means to automate parts of their economy they would easily out compete capitalism in the global market and make it obsolete. Unfortunately, the capitalists have all the guns and so this process will take longer to realize than is necessary. Still, we fight on.

If only educated or knowledgeable people vote, the outcome of democracy would be different, it would be more of a meritocracy just as is the case with the zapatistas! The enemy, consumerism and capitalism, is too big to step aside and let such system happen on a global scale. The elites are selling lies for amenable people who ‘think’ only on instant gratifications instead of long term ones that would demand sacrifice, if you want to call it sacrifice, i refer to it as a smarter choice.

maybe they could seize parts of tabasco to have a coastline, the lives of zapatista governmed peoples would get even better with more opportunities for tourism, fishing, ports, and an easier life overall. On the other hand, they could go west and seize parts of Oaxaca, or coastal parts of Chiapas, considering they recently seized Berriozábal, near the coastline.
