The Martillo played at around 2:50 is practically all on the left hand using the heel toe technique is something I've not seen before until now. Is this an innovation of Mr. Pepe? The Bongo playing is incredible and Pepe's Manoteo has raise the bar for Bongo playing technique!

Pepe was a student of Master Changuito from a very young age. I believe the heel/toe is a signature style of Changuito although you can see a similar style in certain West African hand drumming. Karl Perazzo of Santana and Giovanni Hidalgo also had a lot of cross-influence with Changuito and use that technique.
