@@OConnell34 I agree with you. Back in the 90's my union local (IBEW701) got a discount for members at Red Wing. First pair were great. Second pair blisters. I wore Wolverine pretty much after that. Ariat is my boot now.

I guess I was an unusual driver in that I knew the weight and distribution of *every* load I hauled - except one - because I weighed every one on a CAT scale. The exception was a 22 pallet load of 1 liter soft drinks and there wasn't a scale between the warehouse and the first DOT scale - and I got busted for 500 over on the tandems. Fortunately, the company I drove for paid for the CAT scaling so there was no reason not to take the time to get my loads situated. Plus. . . I often hauled loads containing HAZMAT so I was especially cautious and deliberate in negotiating curves and turns. Unfortunately there are a lot of "drivers" out there who have no idea what the hell they're doing and getting paid for it - until they pull a stunt like this. Thanks for the content fellas.
@FeliciaSteward-ds2dh7 сағат бұрын
Well I got popped 5 times in 20 years. 1- picked up a load in NJ going to Columbus. Said oh I'm safe on the turnpike. Got to Cambridge and asked was scale open or closed and all said closed. So I decided to go straight thru - as I was approaching the decided Oral Penetration Every Night was better. 3800# over. 2nd drove past one out west on 90 because hell I didn't know they called scales- ports. 3rd they were checking log books Savannah and I pulled in the line and when I came up Mr. DOT told me to go well my hot in the ass says damn as I was passing. When my trailer got ready to pass him he screams stop. Then he wanted to check my logbook and I told him he fell off his rocker and bumped his head. After the 4th time asking to see my book I told him I was calling the ambulance because he really bumped his head falling off his rocker. So I hand it to him and he flips through and tells me to go all the way to the end around back. Came back showed him the to get out because I was 6 days day behind. 4th - the AG/Scale on A1 out of J-ville to Waycross GA. That female DOT came from the other side of roadway and there was 6 trucks in front of me and 5 behind and she jumps out her cruiser in front of truck and tells me to pull over. I was 8 days behind even though I spent 5 days in Lakeland. she was wicked. 5th - I was on 270 and this box truck decided he wanted to slow down to 35 and I hate that left lane and surprise their was a OSP. I got pulled over and pulled out the truck and the last officer called an DOT officer out. I was escorted by both off the interstate. DOT officer in the end says if I smell cookies baking I'm coming to ur house. Come to find out he lives in the development behind me. He also said if I see him and his 2 sons at Meijer I better speak to them. 6th - I waved to DOT inside the 75 scale in MI and he pulled me round back and apparently the paper on the windshield was expired and not for my truck.

You’d be surprised how slow a roll over can occur when a load inside a container moves. The problem with 99% of these incidents is that drivers are unable to inspect the load and its lashings because the doors are often securely sealed. Poor guy

@keithmorgan4883 I dunno I drove a Pete with an ultrashift and I hated it. Takes forever to shift, takes a second to react to throttle input from a stop. Was trying to inch ahead to maneuver into a tight spot and it almost ran into a rock. I was on the brakes already and it was still pulling. Give me three pedals and a stir stick
@keithmorgan48836 сағат бұрын
@juliogonzo2718 use creep mode when you just wanna inch forward.
@juliogonzo27184 сағат бұрын
@keithmorgan4883 creep mode is for feeding a paver or similar operation low speed. Slow rolling at engine idle speed for a period of time. I just watched a video on it because I've never used it. It wouldn't have helped because I was doing a multi point turn with resistance from jacknifed trailer, slightly uphill. It needed more torque then the idle engine speed had. L/1st gear shifter position would have probably helped more than anything. I likely had it in D for dummy which lowest gear available I think was 3rd. If I was in a manual 18 speed and had my hand on the shifter I would have already been in 1st. I wouldn't have to think about how to manually shift an automatic, if I was shifting a manual 🙃

@David-ih1ek11 сағат бұрын
Well my best guess is load management. However it is hard to tell as I have not clue what is inside the shipping container. 1st option is that they may have doubled stacked the load (I doubt that), 2nd thought is product that is on the top of each skid is heavier then the bottom of product and a combination with speed. Most of the time every rollover has something to do with speed as a factor combined with driver error. But this is only my thoughts.

Once a vehicle has been over on its side, several things need checking, personally I would turn an engine by hand slowly a few times after the vehicle is righted. Then there is inspection for ALL oil levels and fluid levels. Alex is a mechanic, so he knows if its ok to start the vehicle or not. Then there are other things, brakes, electrics, mirrors doors glass etc. Towing after an accident makes sense

Driver error in several aspects. Speed. Knowing containers or blind on load and always use it’s an over center of gravity thought process on not only blind container loads but any load. Speed is the main error like it or not. The second thing as the unit was back in the ground the tires showed it couldn’t be overloaded. Pulled heavy heavy for years and that is the one thing you take notice to when you need it loaded with a crane and get as close as possible on weight distribution. Again, I’m busting the drivers chops. In my opinion he’s a steering wheel holder. Pepe’s, first class
