I was debating whether or not to post this video as I'm quite disappointed with myself on how I handled this situation. However I think it's so useful to me when I'm looking back to see what we could improve on. I wouldn't class this as a successful introduction and that's completely my fault. There are so many things I would change, such as keeping Pepi away from Oscar until she had calmed down (Ben was right to question me on putting her on the ground). Getting everyone to sit down and letting Oscar go up to them when he felt confident enough to do so, not allowing them to approach and touch him first. Making my family be completely quiet and sitting down to reduce the intensity. It's obvious that he's overwhelmed and it might have been a good idea to walk him away from the group and observe before letting him approach in his own time. I'll be covering all this in a separate video as, I think it might be useful for anyone else going through something similar, to learn from my mistakes. In the meantime, please know that a week on and Pepi and Oscar are the best of friends!

You’re too hard on yourself - you still did a great job. It’s almost impossible to behave perfectly in these situations are they make us so anxious. Congratulations on the new addition to your family.

You did a great job, they are right. Don't worry about anything, they will settle and it is OK for them to grumble at each other. Nothing is perfect with animals and first time meetings. Be proud of yourself for rescuing a dog and having raised another lovely one. You're doing brilliantly. Keep smiling. Much love x

I think you did good in the situation. We always see how we could have done things differently in hindsight. It’s good you picked up on what didn’t work and what you could have done differently. It would definitely be helpful for others in similar situations x

Don't ever be disappointed when your intentions were good. Being a parent to a human or a pet is hard work. So you shouldn't be so harsh on yourself. We will never be perfect. You are so sweet and your voice is so calming. I love watching your little family.

Thank you for such a lovely comment. I’m happy they both love each other now (just posted a video of them playing on my insta) but it’s tough when you can see the mistakes you’ve made 🙈💗

I mean it Katie. I've seen you throughout your dog journey and honestly, you are super responsible, very aware and gentle. There is nothing to make amends for or apologise over. You did beautifully and you walked them together. All great stuff

I have a question about Pomeranians i got mine a couple days ago and I have never heard him bark once I’m really scared and I have no idea what to do so is it normal for them not to bark when you get them?

Pepi didn’t bark for ages! It was bliss and we loved the fact that she was so quiet... don’t worry, your pup will find his bark 😂💗

Getting dogs to get to like each other will be easiest by taking a walk together. They don’t need to sniff each other too close or be up in each other’s faces they can socialise just as well just by walking around together getting to know one another. Keeping enough safe distance where they know they can enjoy but be civil. Also future reference BOTH DOGS ON LEAD. Pepi is nervous and dominant. Luckily Oscar is not dominant as well. She wants to be in control and in charge completely. She’s not shy or afraid and that can cause big fights if Oscar decides to stand up for himself. Pepi needs an attitude check and to learn sharing. If she was on a leash she could have been corrected right away as she was not disciplined for her behaviour. That’s going to teach Oscar and her that she’s in charge and not the humans. Pepis attitude can get her in big trouble. I would absolutely have a trainer evaluate her and how to help you get them to settle in together in the easiest way possible as I’m fearful you don’t know exactly what to look for with her behaviour, as you probably would not have gotten another dog if you understood her personality. She needs to learn a new way of life where humans are in charge because she doesn’t get that at the moment. In her mind it’s Her, then you, then Oscar. She’s been an only child for quite some time that’s what she’s used to. She may seem sweet but she’s dominant and feisty. Once you learn what to look for and how to correct her properly EVERYTHING WILL BE WONDERFUL! You can absolutely have a great family dynamic together, you just have to have someone teach you a bit about dog behaviour and how to train the behavioural side of things for the dogs, not strictly obedience.

Our Pom we have had for a while was the same way when we introduced a papillon. It’s interesting they like each other, but our Pom does not want to share me.

Don’t worry it is only their first time meeting each other.....they still have to get used to each other and I think big sister Pepi is a bit jealous !! Pomeranians may be small but they have super big personalities!

Pepi was obviously territorial and jealous of Oscar. Oscar being a new baby behaved well. They just need to spend more time together so they'll get along as puppy dog couple.

I do! Have a watch of this video - kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJLUkJ-XmdGsgpY I’m planning on re-filming it at some point as the tap sound is a little irritating, but that’s what I do with Pepi and we haven’t bathed Oscar yet! 💗
